Washing a wooden comb
Despite all the usefulness of wooden combs, they are the least durable and also get dirty faster. They are difficult to care for compared to plastic items.
Wood is hygroscopic; when it absorbs moisture, it can become deformed. Therefore, like any personal hygiene item, combs need to be cleaned, but this must be done correctly.
Attention! After contact with water or other liquids, be sure to dry the wooden comb.
The best cleaning agent is alcohol.
- Take a cotton pad, moisten it with the product and wipe each clove thoroughly on all sides.
- If the item is heavily soiled, it is better to pre-soak it, for example, in soapy water.
- Keep it in the solution for a short amount of time. Use a brush (or an old toothbrush) to clean the dirty surface.
Washing in a special solution
If the comb requires thorough washing, then you can use the following recipe. Prepare a composition consisting from water (1 liter), to which ammonia (1 tsp), hydrogen peroxide (1 tsp) is added. Keep the brush in this mixture for about 15–20 minutes. Then wipe each clove and rinse under running water.
Other ways to clean a wooden comb
Before using additional products remove any remaining hair. If necessary, help yourself with a toothpick; it will help in hard-to-reach places.
Important! Never use abrasive products. Small particles will easily damage the surface of your comb. Subsequently, it will harm the hair, catching and tearing off healthy hairs.
Two methods are used for cleaning.
Dry cleaning
Wipe the comb with any alcohol-containing product: from vodka to any medicinal tinctures. The liquid is applied to a cloth, swab, or cotton swab, after which each clove is thoroughly cleaned. Alcohol compositions dissolve residual fat deposits well.
Wet cleaning
Great for cleaning wet wipes. If they have antibacterial impregnation, then the surface will also be additionally disinfected.
Don't forget about such a tool as soda. It breaks down fats perfectly (remember chemistry lessons). It can be added when soaking or used as an independent product when washing.
