It is believed that the history of the bra is rich: it has had its ups and downs. There were periods when people changed their attitude towards this underwear, modified it. However, for a long time, women’s breasts were treated, if not reverently, then with admiration, and therefore special attention was paid to the creation of clothes for them.

Ancient Egyptian women wore breastbands. Thick linen was used to make them. It is interesting that men of those times valued small, neat breasts, and such a bandage made them even more seductive.

In ancient times, Greek women wore a breastband similar to a modern bra. It supported and lifted the breasts from below, and therefore was a real salvation for those with curvy figures.At the same time, the strophion appeared - a chest belt made of soft leather, which was especially valued by the women of Ancient Rome.

In the Middle Ages, bras were forgotten, and heavy corsets came into fashion. The chest was supported in them with the help of special metal inserts. This design was terribly uncomfortable, but who at that time thought about comfort? Medieval beauty really required sacrifices, and serious ones at that.

The situation began to change only towards the end of the 19th century, when people noticed that the corset was not only useless and spoiled the figure, but also dangerous. Then the provisions of the German school of hygiene, which actively criticized him, became popular. It was believed that the corset contributed to the enslavement of a woman, because it constrained movement and did not allow her to enjoy life.

On June 27, 1889, at an exhibition in Paris, a Frenchwoman named Hermine Cadolle demonstrated a bra for the first time. Later, similar shows were held in Germany and the USA.

In 1922, Russian emigrant Ida Rosenthal and her husband developed standard sizes for bras, which were based on the shape and volume of the breast. At the same time, the world first learned about a bra for nursing women.

Today, the bra can be either very simple - cotton, or luxurious - silk, satin. Moreover, in the early 90s, a unique bra was created, which is considered not an element of clothing, but a luxury item: it is made of pure gold.

3. Brassier. This is a revealing bra that barely covers the breasts.
4. Balconette. The name of the model is telling: the breasts are placed in cups that look like balconies. Bones and removable straps are required here. This option goes well with a sundress.
5. Sconce. Bra for adding volume to small breasts. Its cups are thick due to the foam added to them. This option is popularly called push-up.
6. Bustier. This model has removable straps and cups with underwire. The bustier has a corset, which is quite slimming.
