It acquired its modern appearance in 1889 thanks to the Frenchwoman Erminie Cadolle, the owner of a corsetry workshop. Since then, the bra has remained virtually unchanged and has become an indispensable assistant in the life of almost every woman.

A bra is a piece of women's underwear that is a sleeveless design that covers a woman's breasts. It has different names: bra, bodice, bust, but regardless of the name it plays an important role in the everyday wardrobe.

Why is it important to choose “your” shape?

When choosing underwear for a girl, comfort should come first. Even the most beautiful lace bust, if it causes discomfort, will not bring any joy. Each woman has her own breast shape and size, so when buying a bra you need to proceed from your own parameters and feelings (doesn’t press anything, doesn’t it pinch, can you breathe freely).

What materials are they made from?

I make modern bras from a variety of materials. When choosing your model, you need to pay attention to the following:

• The inside of the bodice should ideally be made of natural fabric, such as cotton. This minimizes the risk of any allergic reaction on delicate skin;
• The top of the bust is made of elastane, lycra, polyamide, etc. Sometimes there are also completely cotton models. Often the top is decorated with silk or lace inserts, and it happens that the entire underwear is made of thin lace;
• The bones in the cups should be made of plastic or whalebone. Unfortunately, in budget models this rule is rarely observed, and the bones are made of metal. This often results in tearing of the tissue and damage to the skin.

Important! Never buy a bra that contains nylon material. It can lead to allergies because it does not allow the skin to breathe.The constant “greenhouse” effect can lead to adverse diseases.

Types of cups

Bras are divided into different types depending on many factors. One of them is the cup shape. Let's go over some of them:

1. opaque. It is made of dense material, holds its shape well and holds the breasts. Another plus - it's not see-through;
2. The contour cup is also quite dense and contains a layer of foam rubber. She can slightly enlarge your breasts and give them a beautiful shape if you naturally have problems;
3. cup made of several parts. This model consists of three or four inserts and is suitable for large breasts;
4. with push-up effect. It has a much larger layer of foam rubber or silicone inserts. With its help, you can enlarge your breasts even by a couple of sizes;
5. the soft cup has no bone, it is made of a thin layer of fabric or lace and does not create any additional volume;
6. for feeding. It is very convenient for a nursing mother: a woman, if necessary, can open the top without completely removing the bra.

Types of bras

Among the many models of bras, it is always very difficult to choose the most comfortable one. Let's consider the main ones:

• balconette It is famous for the low design of the cups, which are located on top in one line. Thanks to good support from below, it gives the breast a rounded shape. The undoubted advantage is that it fits small bust size 1-2;
• silicone bra. This model has a sticky layer on the back side, so it sticks to your chest during important events. With it you can easily wear clothes with an open back;
• The sports bra is made from stretchy, wicking fabric that provides excellent support during sports;
• bralette.There are no wires in this bodice, and there may also be no clasps. It is made of lightweight fabric and does not provide much support, so it is suitable for small breasts;
• the seamless bust is made of solid material, and if there are seams, they will absolutely not show through even under the tightest clothes;
• a bra without straps is held on the body due to a fairly wide back back, as well as thin silicone bands that prevent slipping;
• with front clasp. This bra is very comfortable to use and men really like it;
• transformer. Its peculiarity is that it makes it possible to fasten the straps in different positions, which means it can be worn under clothes with a variety of straps.
