The bra consists of many parts. Some of them change shape after improper washing. Deformation leads to the fact that the bra no longer supports the breasts and begins to look worse. To prevent this from happening, you need to learn how to properly care for your bust.
Bra washing instructions
There are 4 key rules:
- The bra can be washed in the fastened state;
- the water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees;
- You cannot put a bra and clothes made of thick, rough or dense materials into the drum at the same time;
- You need to use special containers or bags for washing bras.
Washing accessories
Special containers have been invented for bras, the main functions of which are: protection of busts from deformation and preservation of the original bend of metal inserts. The devices have the shape of a hollow drop-down ball, inside of which the underwear is placed cup-to-cup.After insertion, the structure is closed with a latch, and the ball itself is sent into the drum of the washing machine.
Important! The closing mechanism receives the most complaints. Many products in this category have unreliable locks. Before purchasing, be sure to check that the latch does not swing open when the container is compressed.
A substitute product in this area is a laundry bag. They are produced in 2 types:
- does not have its own shape, is made of thin material;
- shaped like a slide, soft to the touch, but does not deform under mechanical stress.
The second option is more suitable for underwear with a push-up effect, the first - for models without hard cups.
How to wash it by hand?
There is a theory according to which a bra should never be soaked or washed by hand. Procedures may cause damage to hidden solid structural elements.
The second version says that expensive underwear should be washed exclusively by hand. One of the methods:
- fill the basin with warm water;
- add shampoo or liquid laundry detergent, stir;
- soak the bra (for 20–60 minutes, depending on the type of contamination);
- Wash the laundry using crumpling movements.
Important! You can work on the product not only with your hands, but also with a toothbrush.
Second way:
- fill a basin with water, add the product;
- put the bra in the washing container;
- repeatedly dip the container in water and swirl it around in the basin from side to side;
- rinse.
After washing, place the bra between 2 terry towels and apply a little pressure. This will speed up the drying process.
Important! Do not dry your bra with clothespins on the straps. You can only attach it to the middle part located between the cups.
Washing a bra in the machine
The bra is washed using a gentle cycle, a minimum number of revolutions and without spinning.. Before starting, the bra is fastened with all the hooks and put into a bag or container. Together with it, they either do not put anything into the machine at all, or they place things made of thin fabrics of the same shade as the linen.
At the end of washing, you should immediately remove the bra from the drum and use your fingers to shape it into its usual shape. After this, the item can be dried.
What can you wash and what can’t you wash it?
Bleach is prohibited. Instead, use home remedies. They are selected depending on the type of stain.
Type of contamination and suitable product:
- yellowness is removed by a solution of soda (2 tbsp per 1 liter of water);
- against sweat stains use ammonia (per 1 liter of warm water 1 tablespoon of alcohol);
- 3% peroxide eliminates gray plaque (2 tablespoons per liter of cool water).
In the latter case, the item is soaked for a short period of time (less than 30 minutes), in the other 2 cases - for a long time. For example, for the whole night.
Important! Metal inserts can rust and stain the material if exposed to water for a long time. Prolonged soaking is strictly contraindicated for colored bras.
In addition to bleaches, you should not use strong chemicals. The best option is to use a soft powder intended specifically for underwear. If you don't have it on hand, you should use shampoo.
