How to make a thong from regular panties?

Thong panties are irreplaceable in some situations. And, although doctors do not recommend overusing this type of underwear, sometimes you simply cannot do without them. In order to make such a model from old ordinary slips or cut it out from the remains of knitted lace, you need very little time and effort. And how to do this - read on.

What are thongs made of?

Before describing what thongs are structurally made of, it is worth mentioning that there are several designs:

• a model that has a fabric triangle at the back - G-string;
• a design in which at the back there are only intersecting ropes resembling the letter T;
• panties with strips of fabric intersecting at the back, which can be different in width - V-thongs.

Depending on the design, this type of linen consists of:

• anterior triangular part;
• gussets;
• rear triangular part only for G model;
• side parts in the form of rectangular strips of fabric;
• elastic bands that serve as side parts.

How to cut panties?

In order to cut this type of linen it is necessary to take certain measurements - this is done only when the product is sewn from scratch. To do this, we measure the basic measurements:

• waist circumference;
• hip girth;
• seat height;
• hip height.

Next, you should make a pattern in accordance with the measurements taken. But if you have no experience in constructing such drawings, then to facilitate the process you can take a ready-made pattern. Or another option is to take your old panties, the ones that fit the best, and carefully rip them apart along all the seams. Next, lay it out on thick paper and trace the contours.

Important! It is better to choose ordinary slip panties for the base, since on their basis it will be possible to subsequently cut out any model of underwear.

Once the pattern is obtained, you should place it on the fabric and cut out the details.

Important! When cutting out, you should take into account the seam allowance.

Sew step by step

After the model is cut out, it should be assembled. Assembly is carried out in the following sequence:

1. the front part is sewn with the side elements using an overlocker or with a frequent zigzag on a regular sewing machine;
2. then a seam is made along the wrong side between the front and back;
3. after this the gusset is sewn on;
4. sew the free edges of the side flats to the back;
5. At the last stage, treat the edges of the product with elastic tape.

Attention to detail

When sewing this type of linen, you should pay attention to:

• for gussets, choose exclusively cotton fabric - it will somewhat mitigate the harm caused by wearing this product;
• To finish the edge, take the most elastic tape so that the linen fits as best as possible.
