Capiton fabric or, as it is also called, capiton, is a dense cotton-based knitwear. It consists of two or three layers, between which insulation is laid. The layers are quilted together with various geometric shapes. This is done using special equipment.

Capitonium - what kind of fabric is it, the composition of the fabric.

Its composition is 100% cotton, made from cotton threads. However, in some types of capitonium, the addition of synthetic polyester fibers is allowed, but not more than 30%. It is usually added to the bottom layer of material. This is done to reduce the cost of the fabric and improve some of its properties:

  • the service life of the product increases;
  • they become more resistant to weathering;
  • dry faster.

Fabric made from synthetic fibers has poor air permeability and is not recommended for sewing children's clothes.

Capiton fabric without synthetics has the following properties:

  • Soft, dense fabric.It looks voluminous and beautiful.
  • Keeps warm perfectly.
  • Good air permeability.
  • It has a high density - 220-290g/m2.
  • Durable and wear-resistant.
  • Easy to cut.
  • The material is not electrified.
  • Doesn't wrinkle.

We looked at capitonium tissue - what it is, the composition of the fabric. Now let's see what types capitonium material is divided into depending on its structure:

  1. Peña is the highest quality and most expensive of the 3 types of fabric. Made from 100% high quality long staple cotton that is sanded. The fabric is smooth and thin, with a pleasant shine. This fabric does not wrinkle, products made from it do not wrinkle and do not lose their color after multiple washes.
  2. The ring is a lower quality and cheaper material. It is made from medium-staple cotton and contains a small amount of artificial fibers. Its texture is not so smooth and does not have the shine that singing has.
  3. Open end is the cheapest, budget type of fabric. Made from short-staple cotton with the addition of synthetic fibers. Polyester and viscose are used as additives. Distinctive features are a complete lack of shine and a matte surface covered with lint.

Now it is clear what capitonium fabric is, what kind of material it is, what properties it has and what types of it are on sale.

In addition to the name of the fabric “Capitone”, there is also such a thing as the Capiton style. What is it?

Translated from French, the word capitonner means “to upholster furniture.” The capitonné technique originated in France in the 18th century. It is a furniture upholstery in which buttons are stuck in a certain order into a soft, thick material, creating convex elements. This technique was very popular among the French nobility. It later spread throughout Europe. In Russia, this technique was used to decorate the interior of the carriages of noble persons and was called a “carriage screed.”

Nowadays, the capitonné upholstery technique does not lose its popularity. It looks very luxurious, very practical and comfortable. Especially if you use natural or artificial leather as the upholstery material. This technique is used to make headboards, sofas, poufs and wall panels. She still looks luxurious.
