Founder Adidas

Nowadays, there is hardly a person who has not heard about the Adidas company and its products. Every year the company produces a huge number of suits, sneakers and other sporting goods. Even more fakes are being produced, whose creators are trying to grab a piece of someone else's glory.

But few people know about the company’s difficult path to the pinnacle of success. Before becoming a famous sports brand, Adidas experienced several ups and downs.. So, who is its founder?

Brand creators

Founded the Adidas company two brothers - Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. Close people called them the duet “Adi and Rudi.” Each of the brothers performed their own function: Adolf was a creative designer, full of ideas, Rudolf was a talented seller who always found a common language with customers.

Subsequently their paths diverged: Adolf Dassler became the owner of the Adidas company, which was named after him, and Rudolf became the owner of Puma.

Adidas officially came into existence in 1949, however, his journey began much earlier. The history of the company dates back to the 1920s, when the Dassler brothers opened a shoe manufacturing company. The products were slippers and shoes for athletes with disabilities, of whom there were many after the end of the war.

Interesting! The Dassler brothers were born into a poor family. The father was a shoemaker, which explains his children's passion for making shoes. The eldest, Rudolf, worked in production with his father in his youth. After the outbreak of the First World War he was called up to the front.

Adolf Dassler followed in his father's footsteps and also became a shoemaker. After the war, with the support of his parents, he began making shoes. In 1923, he invited Rudolph to his company. As an investment, the elder brother donated his personal typewriter to the company.

At first, manufacturing was a home-made job: shoes were made from decommissioned military uniforms, and the soles were made from old car tires. A few years later, the brothers founded the company Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik.

Success

A breakthrough in the general matter was the invention the world's first studded football boots in 1925. This shoe model was in great demand among athletes and soon became the main profile of the company.

The success of the new type of shoes allowed Adolf and Rudolf to open a real factory. In 1926, the company's staff numbered 25 workers. An average of 100 pairs of shoes were produced daily. Two years later, the brothers patented their invention.

In 1928, Dassler shoes were used for the first time in major competitions.. This happened during the Summer Olympic Games in Amsterdam. The event brought recognition to the company.Four years later, at the Olympics in the American city of Los Angeles, the German athlete Arthur Yonath took third place in the running. He performed in Dassler shoes.

The company was actively developing, and in 1938 the brothers opened another factory in the German city of Herzogenaurach. Daily production increased to 1,000 pairs of shoes.

The beginning of World War II was a difficult time for the company. The enterprises were confiscated by the leadership of Nazi Germany, and the brothers went to the front. A year later, Adolf was returned to his homeland to make shoes for the German army. After the end of the war, the brothers were forced to rebuild their business.

In 1948, they quarreled among themselves and decided to end their joint business. The new factory went to Rudolf, and Adolf got the old one.. It was decided not to use the previous company name. Adolf named the new company Adidas, combining his first and last names. The logo was also not chosen by chance. Taking two stripes from the emblem of the previous company, Adolf added a third. This is how the modern atlas shoe appeared.
