What to do if rhinestones fall off in diamond embroidery?

Once you get carried away by laying out the now fashionable diamond mosaic, it’s hard to stop. It’s a shame when the appearance of a picture is spoiled due to falling off rhinestones! What to do if they disappear? How to help the beauty you create with your own hands remain unchanged, read on.

Why do rhinestones fall off?

All the reasons for the instability of the mosaic come down to one thing - the adhesive layer loses its properties. The reasons may be:

  • working with diamond rhinestonesunevenness of the canvas. Important! There are two types of canvases on sale: flat due to flat packaging and rolled into a roll.. As a rule, there are no problems with the first ones, and you can start working with them without delay. Rolls require preliminary leveling: under a press of books or using an iron - not very hot. Definitely through fabric!
  • dirt on the sticky layer;
  • storage without glass and a protective frame - under steam heating conditions, the glue dries out and mosaic fragments begin to crumble.

Advice! To decorate the finished picture, ordinary glass, which will be offered by any framing workshop, is also suitable. But the ideal is a special anti-reflective coating used in museums - the diamond painting shines on its own!

Let's say that as a result of mistakes made, the glue became unusable and the rhinestones fell off. Let's try to save the picture using double-sided tape - on a transparent basis: the white one will cover the diagram. Carefully cut out the “patches” and glue them to the empty spaces. We attach rhinestones on top.

Applying a thin layer of glue like “Moment” can also help. Some craftswomen use PVA glue, but the result is not guaranteed - you may not calculate the concentration.

To keep the rhinestones...

upper layer...There are a few little tricks! When starting work, do not peel off the entire film protecting the adhesive layer at once.. It is worth cutting off sections of the film only over the finished fragments of the future masterpiece.

Is the sticky layer dirty? The matter can be corrected - take a brush (with strong bristles!) and carefully wash the area of contamination; It is not forbidden to perform the procedure with clean fingers. Afterwards, we carefully collect small specks with tweezers, dry the canvas and sculpt rhinestones on it again.

Important! Cotton swabs, discs or paper napkins are not suitable for wet processing!

Is the picture ready? Let's consolidate the result – with an iron, rolling pin or book press: rhinestones will stick better and will last longer. You can also coat it with a thin layer of transparent acrylic varnish.

Diamond embroidery: tips

  • When working with rhinestones - square or round - trim them from time to time with a ruler, smoothing out any irregularities;
  • When working with several colors at a time, sort the rhinestones from each other by color.

Advice! It is better to use not a tray, but any device with cells - a palette, an egg container, candy packaging.
