The beret is one of the most popular women's hats. Both little girls and sedate older ladies wear it with pleasure. This accessory can transform any, even the most modest outfit, especially if it is made of bright material.
Most women create this item using knitting needles or crochet. But if you have a knitting machine, then this product can be made using it. Let's take a closer look at this process.
What you need to machine knit a beret
One of the most important moments in the manufacture of any thing is the preparatory stage. For the process under discussion, it consists of the following steps.
- Select a model and method of its manufacture. The product can be knitted from bottom to top or across.
- Purchase material. For summer items, it is preferable to use cotton, viscose, silk or linen. For the cold season - wool, mohair, acrylic.
- Take measurements. For future calculations, you will need to measure the volume of the head and the depth of the product. This is done as shown in the figure.
- Build a pattern. Each method has its own option. For example, for the top-down method, the pattern will look like this.
Attention! The pattern shows only the top part. The lower part (side) looks like a rectangle and is made independently according to the volume of the head. In this case, during the assembly of the product, the lower edge of the upper part is folded.
- Knit a sample on a knitting machine canvas and carry out its wet-heat treatment.
- Perform the necessary calculations according to the pattern and sample.
Reference! When choosing a material, pay special attention to the thickness of the thread. The volume of fiber should be such that knitting loops does not pose any difficulties in making the fabric.
Knitting a beret
One of the options for making a beret by machine is cross knitting. In this action, the parts are knitted crosswise using the pattern below.
To work, you will need enough machine knitting yarn. You can also use handmade fiber of suitable thickness.
Workflow Description
- Make a pattern according to the given sample (having previously adjusted it to your standards).
- Run sample canvas and carry out its wet-thermal treatment.
- Based on the results of the previous points perform the necessary calculations.
- Cast on the estimated number of loops and knit the piece (wedge), making the necessary reductions to create the shape.
- Tie six wedges.
- Assemble parts into a single product.
- Perform an OBE on an item.
- If desired, you can decorate the headdress with decorative elements: a fluffy pompom, applique, knitted flower, and so on.
Attention! With this method, you can knit each wedge separately and then assemble the elements using a needle or use partial knitting. In the second option, you only have to sew one back seam.
Calculations for cross knitting can be done independently, or you can use a special electronic pattern service.
