Today, a cap is a piece of clothing that suits absolutely everyone. It is worn by both adults and children; it goes well with both sports and classic clothes. But, the cap, like any other part of the wardrobe, tends to get dirty and needs to be washed. How to do this correctly, read on!
What to consider before washing a cap with a visor?
The part of the cap that gets dirty the fastest is the inner rim. It comes into direct contact with the forehead. Because When washing, attention is paid to this particular contaminated area.. Before you start washing, pay attention to the following factors:
- What material is the visor made of? If it is made of cardboard, do not wash it, because if water gets on the cardboard, it will deform and the product will lose its shape.. You will no longer be able to wear it; in this case, it is much easier to buy a new headdress. To prevent this situation from happening, buy things made from high-quality materials, where the visor is made of plastic;
- what is indicated on the label. Typically, manufacturers write on it the name of the fabric from which the cap is made. There you will also find information on how to wash this hat - by hand or machine;
- what color is the fabric from which the cap is made? Some fabrics tend to fade. To prevent this from happening, take a piece of white cloth and soak it in warm water.. Then run along the inside of the product; if there is paint left on the fabric, it is not recommended to wash it.
Which material can be washed and which cannot?
Caps are most often made of cotton fabric. This material can only be washed manually and with soft (baby) powder.
If your headdress is made of leather, then washing it is prohibited. Things made from such material can only be cleaned. To do this, take a sponge, soak it in a solution in which the detergent was previously diluted, and treat the contaminated areas with it. Then wipe the entire surface of the product with a flannel cloth.
Important! To make the surface of the skin shiny and elastic, rub it with half an onion. And to get rid of the unpleasant odor that follows this procedure, wipe the surface with a solution of citric acid or lemon juice.
Wool caps can only be washed by hand in warm or cold water only. After washing, be sure to rinse the product in conditioner, lightly wring it out, and dry it on a blank.
Important! A blank - an object shaped like a human head - can be replaced with an inverted three-liter jar. Drying the cap on such a tool is necessary so that it retains its shape.
Products based on synthetic materials can be cleaned in cold water.Hats that have parts covered with fur should not be cleaned with home remedies. Take it to the dry cleaner and save the hat!

Machine washable
It is important to note once again that you can wash a cap in a washing machine, provided that a special permit sign is indicated on its label. It also indicates the temperature at which washing should be carried out.
Turn on the “delicate wash” mode, select the required temperature, not exceeding 40 degrees. To avoid damaging the structure of the product, disable the “spin” and “dry” options.
When washing, use powder for delicate fabrics or shavings of laundry soap. Do not use chlorine-containing products or bleaches to clean greasy stains.. Stains should be removed by hand washing using any liquid detergent. If you machine wash your hat, be sure to add conditioner. This will keep the fabric of the cap soft.
