About 50 years ago there was not much variety among men's hats - almost everyone wore the same type of ear flaps in the cold season. But contemporaries were much more fortunate - there are so many varieties of hats that it is not necessary to wait for cold weather. There are a lot of interesting models that are designed not only for severe frosts. The main thing is to understand this variety and learn the rules of wearing, combining and choosing the right one.
Men's hat: how to wear
First of all, a hat should always be worn when the temperature drops to +10 degrees. This will protect your hair from wind and cold, not to mention the head itself, which needs warmth. The most common trick of some men is to wear the same hat at any time of the year and with any clothes. But in fact, it would be useful to acquire a couple of models and change your image.
Models
The model range is infrequently updated and replenished, so the presented list is not so voluminous:
- Beanie - a regular knitted men's hat, maybe with or without a lapel. The model fits tightly around the head, covers the ears, and has a symmetrical round shape.
- "Sock" - an ultra-popular model, especially among young people. Also symmetrical, but has an elongated corner, similar to a cone. The upper part of the head does not fit, but hangs down like a sock, which is why it got its name.
- Chuglio - an extravagant, but also popular model. It is distinguished by two pigtails descending from the ears. It also has a cone-shaped shape, but is made from 2-3 shades of flowers.
- Ushanka - the famous Russian hat. The origin of the name of this model is dictated by the presence of “ears” on the sides. Fits the head perfectly, covers the ears and even part of the cheeks. In warmer weather, the “ears” may be raised and tied at the top of the head.
- Kepi – in the winter version it will be wool, but overall it looks like a regular beret. The head is warm, but the ears are completely open, so the cap is not suitable for sub-zero temperatures. The kepi has the most popular variety - coppola. This model comes from Sicily and was previously worn by drivers. But she easily crossed all classes and is now in the wardrobe of the most stylish and wealthy celebrities.
Each model has its own variations, so if one beanie hat does not fit, this does not mean that the model is not suitable at all.
Material
So that each model can have its own characteristic features, they are often produced from the same material. Let’s say it’s difficult to imagine a real earflap knitted with knitting needles. Even if there are such instances, these are rather exceptions, a challenge. By type of material, hats can be classified as follows:
- Can be knitted beanie, “socks”, chulyo.
- Traditionally, only fur is made from earflaps. The most expensive and presentable earflaps will be made of natural fur and genuine leather inserts. Well, more affordable options are made of faux fur, with inserts of some kind of waterproof material. By the way, there are interesting models of earflaps made from felt or fleece.
- Made from wool or with the addition of wool cap.
It is difficult to immediately determine which hat will provide warmth in severe frosts. Features of the style, closed or open ears, hat material - all this will affect comfort in the cold.
How to choose a hat based on your face type
More important than the material and color is the perfect compatibility of the hat with the shape of the face. This is the only wardrobe item when choosing which you need to pay attention to your face type. A wrong choice can seriously harm any man. The selection rules are simple:
- All hats that fit tightly to the head - beanies, sock hats - are ideal for oval face types. If your face shape is triangular, with a massive forehead, then it is better to choose a hat with a lapel. On the contrary, lapel models are not suitable for the square type.
- Chulio is perfect for those with a round or square face.
- The earflaps, which can cover almost half of the face, will certainly suit everyone.
- A wool cap will further round out a round face. But for other face types, a cap is an ideal way to diversify your look.
Some tips
There are a few more tips for combinating hat models with style:
- Kepi created for classic coats, leather jackets, sheepskin coats, but will strongly conflict with the sporty style.
- Ushanka – as with the shape of the face, it suits any image and style. Especially if you combine it with gloves or a scarf.
- Chulo, definitely has a slightly frivolous appearance, so it is not suitable for strict, businesslike images. But for down jackets, padded jackets, sports sweaters, this is a relevant headdress.
- Hats and socks And beanie, at first glance, they are intended to be in an informal style. But there are many examples when beanies are worn with formal coats and warm jackets and it looks very beautiful.
If the hat causes static electricity in the hair after removal, it is better to purchase a special antistatic agent and spray it on the hair. Another option is to use hair gel or serum. In addition, you can change your shampoo to one that is more suitable for winter.
Hats should always be stored separately from outerwear, preferably on a special shelf.
Now, it is obvious that neglecting a hat or having only one model for all times is a crime! It is enough to choose the right shape and color - and now a current and fashionable headdress is ready for any look.
