knitted hatThere are several ways to get rid of glue on a hat. You can simply wash the item, but there is a high probability that after one wash the glue will not be completely removed, in addition, high water temperature can ruin the hat. Experts advise using an iron and several available products that are found in every home.. We will talk about them now.

Method 1 – simple washing

Leave in water for 10-15 minutes.Boiling water will soften the remaining glue, so it can be washed off. After soaking, rinse the hat in cool water. Unfortunately, not all fabrics can be washed in hot water, so check the label carefully before soaking.

Vegetable oil can replace boiling water. Apply a small amount to the stain before washing and leave for a few minutes to absorb into the fabric. For best results, rub the oil in with your fingers.. Laundry soap will help remove oil stains. Wash the hat in cool water using soap and rinse thoroughly.

The oil must first be heated until hot.

Method 2 - with high temperature

A good way to deal with glue is exposure to high temperature. You will need a steam generator or an iron with a steam function. We follow the instructions:

  • remove sticker with ironlay the hat on an ironing board or any other flat surface;
  • wet the gauze and cover the area to be treated;
  • set the iron to the maximum temperature and wait until it warms up;
  • gently steam the adhesive stain;
  • if the gauze dries out quickly, wet it again;
  • While exposing the fabric to steam, at the same time try to remove the glue by prying it with a knife.

If you don't have an iron or steam generator, you can use a hairdryer.

Method 3 - low temperature

Freezing the hat will help remove the glue. Place the item in the chamber for 1 hour and set the temperature to -35 degrees. If the refrigerator does not allow the use of such a low temperature, increase the cold exposure time to 2 hours. After freezing, the glue will begin to crumble and can be easily removed from the fabric.

Method 4 – chemical means

Alcohol or vodka has a similar effect. When using this method, do not forget about safety measures: wear gloves and a gauze bandage.

What to do if the glue is still not removed?

To get rid of stains on your own, do not use all methods at once. Simultaneous exposure to high temperature and chemicals can irreversibly damage the item.. If glue residue is still not removed from the fabric, we advise you to contact a professional dry cleaner.
