Paper pirate hat

There is the easiest version of a hat on a stick made of cardboard:

To create an accessory you will need a thick sheet of whatman paper or black cardboard and 2 ordinary office sheets. You should also acquire auxiliary tools: scissors, PVA glue, pen.

If you couldn’t find a black A3 sheet, then you can take 2 simple white sheets, glue them into a square and paint them with black paints. It is important that the paper is thick, otherwise the product may tear.

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

• We make an even square out of large paper. Take the corner of the short part of the paper and fold it over the larger part. It turns out the angle should be bent at 45 degrees.
• Using a black pen or pencil, we make marks where the corner was turned. Draw a straight line along the bend. It is important that all edges are equally smooth.
• Now cut off the excess paper along the line. It turns out to be an even square.
• Now we make a circle from the square. We bend the four corners to the center and round the part.
• When the circle is ready, make a fringe of white paper. Fold the sheet in half 2-3 times and make a fringe along the entire length of the paper.
• Unfold the fringed sheet and cut along the fold line with scissors.
• Glue the resulting fringe to the edge of the circle.
• We eyeball the edges with three identical dots at equal distances.
• Using the drawn points, bend the sheet three times. It should look like a cocked hat.
• In order for the headdress to be a real pirate accessory, the product must be supplemented with paraphernalia of sea robbers. We make two bones and a skull out of paper.

To make an accessory, you need to draw two bones and a skull with a pencil on A4 paper. I will cut out all the details. We make the bones with a cross, and glue the skull in the center. We glue the resulting composition onto the front center of the hat. The work is finished, the beautiful headdress is ready!

Made from felt or thick fabric

In addition to paper, the headdress can be made from a dense, plain material. Felt works great. Choose black fabric. You also need to take measurements: head circumference and determine the height of the cocked hat.

Now we’ll cut out the circle, which will be the inner part of the field. The margins should be as wide as the height of the product. Two parts are made, the face and the back. Then we sew the fields and make notches 1 cm short of the edge. Turn the product inside out and iron it well.

We sew all the parts together using an overlocker or regular machine. We cover the edges with gold braid to make it look beautiful.

Now all that remains is to decorate the cocked hat to make it a pirate hat. Fold the brim in three places and make an applique of the skull and crossbones.

Important! Appliques or red ribbon for decoration can be purchased at a themed or sewing store.
