DIY body shimmer

Shimmer is a cosmetic product with a large number of reflective particles, which not only gives the skin a unique glow, but also cares for it and moisturizes it. It creates a beautiful natural shimmer, emphasizing facial features and individual areas of the body. However, a high-quality product will not be cheap, and every girl wants to have it in her arsenal.

For this reason, the fair sex had to undergo various experiments, as a result of which a recipe was found that allows you to create body shimmer with your own hands at home. The method is quite simple, but the main thing is to decide on the ingredients. To make your own body shimmer, all you need to do is buy the right oil and mika - pearlescent chips that give the product a smooth and even shine.

How to make your own shimmer

It should be remembered that using shimmer gives more than just a decorative effect. The product is also intended for skin care, so the choice of ingredients should be approached responsibly.

What you will need

Body shimmer is made from oil. And here you need to think carefully about which one is right for you. The following oils are usually used:

  • coconut;
  • almond;
  • hazelnuts;
  • macadamia;
  • argan;
  • jojoba;
  • shi;
  • sandalwood;
  • roses and others.

All of them are designed to moisturize, prevent sagging, and protect against environmental influences, but you need to choose a product depending on your skin type:

  • for oily women - sandalwood, rosewood, lemongrass;
  • for dry – shea, olive, jojoba, apricot and almond;
  • for normal – coconut, argan, rosemary.

Properly selected oil for making shimmer can solve many problems: it perfectly moisturizes, improves skin texture and makes it soft and velvety, regenerates cells and rejuvenates even with pronounced age-related changes.

When preparing body shimmer, oils can, of course, be combined. For example, if you decide to make a volume of 200 ml, then it is recommended to take 2 types - 100 ml of each. It all depends on how much of the cosmetic product you want to get in the end.

Then the main ingredient will be mica, a naturally occurring substance derived from recycled mica, which is often used in cosmetics with a shimmering effect. But here you should be extremely careful. It is not recommended to pour too much of this substance into the container. It's better to add a little and see what happens. If the shimmer is dull, you can always add more mika, but you need to do this carefully so as not to overdo it with shine. You can find mika in specialized stores - for creating cosmetics or soap making.

By the way, shades of miki can be different.You can choose rich yellow with red, smoky golden, silver, with a hint of pink, warm brown with a copper-red tint - it all depends on your preferences.

Essentially, these are the main components. But is there anything else we can add? Certainly! For example, squalane is an oily substance of plant origin obtained as a result of the synthesis of organic fatty acids. It prevents dullness and dryness of the skin, maintains elasticity, and fights premature aging. But you will need very little of it.

Additionally, you can add vitamin E. As you know, the skin simply adores it, and therefore will only thank you for such a supplement. Just 1 ml is enough.

So, what do we need:

  • oil - depending on skin type;
  • mika;
  • very little squalane - about 10 ml;
  • vitamin E.

Instructions

The recipe is incredibly simple. First, mix all the oils (if you decide to use several types), then add squalane and vitamin E, and then add mika a little at a time. Shake thoroughly - the body shimmer is ready!

If we consider the recipe for a specific skin type, it will look like this. For example, for fat:

  • 30 ml sandalwood oil;
  • 30 ml rosewood;
  • 15 ml lemongrass oil;
  • 10 ml squalane;
  • 1 ml vitamin E;
  • half a teaspoon of mica (or a little less).

Mix thoroughly and you can use it. Cooking time: 15-20 minutes.
