Polyviscose - what kind of fabric?

The textile industry has long learned to create good fabrics with high quality and properties. One of them is polyviscose. This material perfectly combines the characteristics of viscose and polyester. From the article you will learn what polyviscose is, what it consists of, how to care for it, and also what is sewn from it.

Description

Polyviscose fabric (or simply polyviscose) is a mixture viscose and polyester. Both materials can be used to make clothes yourself, but mixing them gives the best result, and the cost is quite affordable.

The front surface is matte or shiny. The color palette is often one tone. Sometimes there are options with a printed print in the form of a floral or geometric pattern.

Compound

The base is viscose fibers and polyester, which influenced the name of the material. The optimal combination is 30 to 70, with the inclusion of viscose at least 23%.

To give polyviscose the necessary qualities, other fibers are added to the composition - elastane or lycra (up to 5%). There can be two varieties:

  • A material that is very similar in appearance to silk, cotton, linen or wool. The fabric is strong and durable, quite pleasant to the touch.
  • The inclusion of elastane gives polyviscose the necessary firmness and elasticity. It can stretch in different directions and is very comfortable to wear. The ratio of components in this case is as follows: viscose - 30%, polyester - 65% and elastane - 5%.

Properties

Positive qualities include:

  • excellent breathability and ability to absorb water vapor;
  • relatively easy to care for, stains wash off quickly, does not cause allergies;
  • the material does not hinder movement and at the same time fits tightly to the skin;
  • wear resistance - the material is difficult to tear, it stretches well, but immediately returns to its original proportions;
  • shape stability - does not stretch around the elbows and knees, drapes well;
  • low cost;
  • does not accumulate static electricity.

Among the shortcomings, only one is highlighted - over time, polyviscose may develop pilling, especially if not properly cared for.

Application

Polyviscose is a universal material, and therefore its scope of application is completely unlimited. From it they sew:

  • school uniform;
  • suits - trouser, skirt;
  • blouses, sundresses, dresses, overalls;
  • clothes for children;
  • vests and coats;
  • home textiles, window decor (curtains, bedspreads, bed linen);
  • cleaning wipes;
  • carpets.

Care

It is very easy to care for things made of polyviscose, just follow these recommendations:

  • Before washing, any product must be turned inside out to prevent snags;
  • The mode is preferably manual, but it can also be set to delicate;
  • the water temperature should not exceed 30°C, otherwise the fabric will be deformed;
  • do not use aggressive agents containing chlorine;
  • spin - delicate and neat, at minimum speed;
  • drying exclusively in a horizontal position without the help of additional heat sources (heating radiators, heat fans).

Polyviscose - synthetic or natural fabric?

The origin of the material is undoubtedly artificial, but it is not 100% synthetic. This mixed fabric combines the characteristics of natural and synthetic materials, which gives it good resistance to deformation, breathability and attractive appearance.
