Fashion spring 2023 for women 40 years old: how to choose an image, photo

Fashion spring 2023 for women 40 years old

Before you know it, it will be time for spring fashion. Exactly! The fashion that was shown on the runways in September will soon appear in stores. These trends are not only ones that all women should follow, but they are especially suitable for women over 40.

During the fashion shows, there were many familiar looks from previous seasons and many silhouettes inspired by the 80s and 90s. For women over 40, we've chosen cargo pants with pockets, men's-inspired oversized shirts, clean minimal suits, bodycon maxi dresses with columns, asymmetrical skirts, spring green, fringe, and 3D textures and flowers.

Cargo pants and pockets

Cargo pants and pockets were everywhere on the spring 2023 runways. And who doesn't love pockets? They are ideal for those on the go to securely store your essentials.Designers showcased a variety of styles, from shiny sorbet-colored satin cargo pants at Fendi to parachute-style wide-leg trousers with a matching zip-up bustier at Brandon Maxwell and built-in pockets on a trench coat at Sacai.

Modified men's plus size shirts

We love a great men's shirt for spring (or any time), and this season designers have modified and increased shirt sizes! Christian Dior showed a perfectly draped dolman shirt, Carolina Herrera went prim and proper with puff sleeves and bell-bottoms, and Dries Van Noten contrasted an oversized light lavender men's shirt with a ruffled brown shirt. Somehow it works!

Clean minimalist suits

Fashion 2023 for women 40 years old

This is one '90s look we're glad to see again. The clean, muted tones of minimalist pantsuits return for spring 2023. From the office to a cocktail party, these suits will help us look chic and put together. Find the fabric and proportions you love, from a slightly sporty vanilla number at Jil Sander, a sleek columnar blush pink at Victoria Beckham, to a sleeveless linen pantsuit at Alberta Ferretti.

Graceful maxi dresses with columns

Every season we love to highlight evening looks, and these sleek maxi dresses for Spring 2023 were a prime example. You can be a leggy, cool woman in one of these dresses. Saint Laurent showed a sparkly leopard print maxi with slightly padded shoulders, Ann Demeulemeester added some side ruffles to basic black, and Elie Saab stunned us with a creamy white column dress with gold metallic detailing at the waist. All these details make these dresses more comfortable for women over 40.

Asymmetrical skirts

These are not disco scarf hems, but rather a modern take on skirts and dresses. These low hemlines are super flattering and add an element of casualness to the maxi. From a tactile and textured lime green skirt at Bottega Veneta to a cream belted draped dress at Brandon Maxwell and a black kaftan at Stella McCartney, these asymmetrical skirts are a must-have for your spring 2023 wardrobe.

Spring green

One of our favorite colors of the season is spring green! Pantone calls it “Classic Green” and it made it onto their list of the top 10 fashion colors for the spring/summer 2023 NYFW season. We think they're right, this is a classic you'll keep for years to come. It's easier to wear than some of the neon highlighter colors that were on the spring 2023 runways. This gorgeous spring rich green ranges from a two-piece pant set at Lela Rose, a classic trench coat at Akris, to a flowy one-shoulder dress at Elie Saab.

Textures and fringes

We've seen a lot of texture and fringe in recent seasons, and that will continue into spring 2023. We love the sophisticated yet bold take on a long sleeveless black fringed top and trousers at Michael Kors, the perfect placement of fringe on the cuffs and hem of a knit top and skirt at Bottega Veneta, and the all-out approach to tone-on-tone feather fringe at Jil Sander.

Flowers in 3D

There weren't many floral prints on the runways, but they definitely bloomed in 3D! The flowers literally jumped out. Gathered fabric and voluminous appliques created bodices on tops, skirts and dresses. There was everything from a huge rose on the shoulder of a coral red dress at Carolina Herrera, to small floral shapes cascading across a jersey at Dries Van Noten, and a huge floral appliqué on the front of a bright yellow maxi dress at Lela Rose.
