Purple suits

Purple suits

One of the hottest color trends of 2022 will remain a firm favorite in 2023. Lilac has graced everything from everyday wear to special occasion outfits, and it looks like purple tones across the spectrum are here to stay.

While pastel shades of the color were the most popular at New York Fashion Week, richer, deeper shades broke through at Ulla Johnson and looked especially chic paired with lighter, lavender pieces for a tonal ensemble. Tory Burch and Adam Lippes offered the palest interpretations, so soft they could be mistaken for cream, giving this staple color a new spin for spring 2023.

Despite the abundance of casual wear, lilac was also used to create formal wear, including the best cocktail dresses from Pamella Roland and Dennis Basso. This is a color worth keeping an eye on for wedding guests and those looking for the best bridesmaid dresses as we enter the next year.

Tassels

Tassels

Another trend that extended its life cycle from 2022 to 2023 was details with tassels. One of our favorite summer trends, the best dresses and party wear went all out with fringe for a look that's hard to resist.

Fringe is the perfect trend for summer as it doesn't go as well with coats and of course you want the tassel details to be on display at all times. Ideal for dancing or lounging in the sun, fringe adds extra depth and movement to any garment.

The level of fringe on the runways varied: PatBo and Bronx & Banco had it very striking, while Proenza Schouler and Ulla Johnson offered softer and calmer versions of this trend. Although tassel details are often associated with the definition of boho style, for 2023 fashion trends this look seems less bohemian and more glamorous. Party dresses that showcased this trend best.

Tassels and fringe are a great way to add drama to your spring look. From subtle fringes on skirts and knits to full flapper dresses, this trend can be used in any way you like.

Lace

Lace detailing is a great option for a spring/summer outfit as it is a lightweight fabric and suitable for warmer weather. In recent years we've seen an increasing penchant for artisanal detailing combined with new technology, and this combination of lush lace and intricate laser cutting pays homage to craftsmanship.

Lace fabric could be the basis for this 2023 fashion trend, but the interpretation of the look varies across brands: Naeem Khan offered a dramatic cape ensemble, while Proenza Schouler and Bibhu Mohapatra showed more wearable blouse options.

The details automatically make this style more suitable for evening and formal wear as it comes in a rainbow of colours, from classic white to bold and vibrant pinks and blues. The perfect investment for deciding what to wear to your engagement or wedding next year.
