Paris Fashion Week: 6 main trends from the catwalks

Paris Fashion Week has ended and the designers have had their final say. The main trends of the spring-summer season 2021 were demonstrated at the shows. Today I will talk about six of them.

Mini skirts

With the fashion of the 90s, seductive miniskirts also returned to us. Almost all famous designers demonstrated them in their collections. Miu Miu especially distinguished themselves at the show: their images literally exuded freshness, youth and lightness. Among others, they showed a flirty yellow skirt, reminiscent of a bygone summer.

Chanel also contributed to the trend with a white skirt, blouse and cardigan. A black seductive skirt was also shown by Coperni.

Romantic armor

Sarah Mauer said that the trend for very voluminous things has a deep background. It symbolizes the fact that in the modern world girls take up more and more space. They become socially significant, reflecting this even in their clothes.

Nina Ricci, for example, showed a long and full skirt.Patou made a voluminous pink dress. Loewe even showed a sundress with a very large and fluffy bottom and a thin top. Ellery slightly modified the trend by adding puffy sleeves to a strict black dress.

Relaxed tailoring

Huge silhouettes of “armor” are associated with something aggressive and provocative. In contrast, many designers remembered the classic costumes. “Clothing suits everyone, regardless of gender,” Nicolas Ghesquière shared his thoughts before the show.

Louis Vuitton offered beige, high-waisted, loose trousers with a wide belt for the spring-summer season. The Row models pair suit trousers with a black turtleneck and a long classic jacket. Balenciaga demonstrated a combination of classics with a bright T-shirt.

Drama Queen

The world of high fashion has long been sublimely theatrical. And the shows in Paris returned to this trend. Veils and unusual multi-layered outfits reappeared on the catwalks. According to the designers themselves, some things were made from literally everything that was at hand.

Christopher Esber showed a set of a black top and a long skirt, almost entirely made of translucent silk. Loewe suggested wearing a classic dress under a white veil, like a doll. Maison Margiela only used red fabric.

Vintage lingerie

The hands of fashion designers delving into the past have reached underwear. Many of the outfits at fashion week were inspired by shirts, shirts and combinations from centuries past.

Paco Rabanne offers fashionistas a very delicate beige dress, decorated with lace and with a lace bodice. Balenciaga showed a dress that looked like a nightie - made of blue openwork fabric.Kwaidan Editions chose to use white silk with black frills made from the same lace. In general, what was previously hidden under the fluffy dress of a noble lady can now be safely worn in the spring-summer season of 2021.

Drapery

Olivier Rousteing said in an interview: “In every fashion show there is always a hint of sex.” In 2020, its role is played by drapery. Voluminous and at the same time delicate silhouettes look very piquant.

Altuzarra showed a draped maxi skirt made of delicate silk. Yohji Yamamoto combined draped trends with classic, relaxed trouser suits. Y/Project emphasized a soft blue miniskirt, and Balmain showed a futuristic suit with wide shoulders.
