The word "boots" is French and translates as "strong boots." Indeed, these shoes look very impressive. High tops that completely cover the knees look elegant on neat women's legs. Over the knee boots came into the world of high fashion not so long ago, but quickly became popular.
However, they became popular in wide circles only in the middle of the twentieth century. In the 60s, the production of these traditionally men's boots was launched. But then they started making them for women. At the same time, miniskirts came into fashion, which, in combination with over the knee boots, made women’s legs especially seductive. In the 80s, these shoes were combined with garter belts and revealing corsets. Such an image was provocative, and therefore was not welcomed by all members of the public of those times. The corresponding films, for example, “Pretty Woman,” in which over the knee boots were worn by women of easy virtue, added fuel to the fire.
Only at the beginning of the 21st century did high boots begin to be combined with ordinary, sometimes very modest clothing. Since then and to this day, they have remained an elegant and stylish item of everyday clothing.
A classic of the genre - plain over-the-knee boots with a shaft up to mid-thigh - are very popular today. But designers offer modern fashionistas more and more interesting models. So, there are many criteria by which these boots are distinguished:
The sole may also be different. For example, a model wearing high heels is considered the most daring. A slightly more modest option is a platform, although it can also be quite large. The most comfortable model is with a flat sole or with a small but stable heel (up to 5-6 cm).
You can and should create stylish looks with high boots. They go well with a short (mid-thigh) coat, down jacket or fitted jacket. An excellent addition to this ensemble would be jeggings, skinny jeans and classic tapered trousers.
Lovers of loose-fitting clothes will appreciate the combination of over the knee boots with a wide dress or a warm skirt. Summer boots can be combined with shorts and a straight-cut top or with a sundress.
When creating harmonious images with boots, it is important not to forget about the time-tested technique of “inverse proportionality”: the bolder the clothes, the more discreet the boots should be, and vice versa.
