Classic models of men's shoes say a lot about the representative of the stronger half of humanity. As already mentioned, brogues have perforations along the top of the shoe. A similar design can be done on other types of men's and women's shoes. This procedure of punching holes in the shoe material is called broging.
Important! The main function of brodging is to create drainage holes so that moisture does not remain inside the shoe and the foot can “breathe” freely.
This is a distinctive feature of men's brogue boots, but in essence, it is just a stylistic design, a decoration that adorns boots made of genuine leather. The shoe model still remains classic.
What do brogues look like?
Brogues are classic low shoes made of suede or genuine leather, which are decorated with patterns of holes on the outside of the shoe. Since over time, perforation began to be purely decorative, several varieties of this type of shoe were identified:
- full (having perforations along the entire surface of the outer side);
- semi-brogues (there are punctures only on the cut-off toe of the boot and are formed into a beautiful pattern);
- quarter (holes are present only along the seams).
Important! Today, the functionality of punctures in the material of shoes has come to a standstill. They are made solely for decoration and style maintenance.
What Oxfords look like
These shoes are the epitome of classic. They are low-rise shoes with classic lines and hidden lacing. Strict, elegant and as discreet as possible. Hidden laces are their unique feature. The main colors are black and brown, made of matte genuine leather or suede. For special occasions, patent leather shoes are produced.
They are ideal for classic business suits, tailcoats and tuxedos. A man in them looks stylish and confident. The main thing is to know the basic rules of combination and choose wardrobe items in accordance with the stylistic decisions of the image.
Important! Patent oxfords are suitable exclusively for formal evenings that involve the appearance of a man in a tailcoat. These shoes cannot be worn with other suits.
Obvious difference between models
Classic shoes look almost the same at first glance to a person ignorant of the fashion world. However, this feeling is deceptive. Oxfords and brogues have a number of obvious differences and their own characteristics. Thus, brogues are always made with decorative perforations in different places of the shoe, and oxfords are always equipped with hidden lacing.
