Merrell Continuum Vibram brand: a feature of mountain hiking boots

Merrell Continuum Vibram Brand

Merrell was founded in 1981 when Clark Mathis and John Schweiser teamed up with an idea to change the world of hiking boots. After 16 years, Merrell became part of the Wolverine World Wide, without losing its individuality.

Randy brought his skills and experience to the production of boots and other footwear, while Clark and John brought their knowledge and experience to skiing and outdoor adventure.

Their main goal was to create hiking boots that would provide high performance while being affordable for the average consumer.

Today, as the global leader in outdoor footwear with the Moab and Jungle Moc boots, Merrell is focused on combining performance, style and comfort, empowering everyone to explore the great outdoors with confidence.

In order to simplify the outdoor shoe shopping process for consumers while providing retailers with a clear product line, Merrell's CEO and his team decided there had to be a better way - separating the products into blocks called the Merrell Continuum.

Change of direction of development

This change was the most radical and largest development project in the company's history. To move into Continuum, Merrell has completely redesigned the Outventure line, now classifying shoes by end use and intensity level. Additionally, Merrell decided it was time to partner with Vibram and Gore-Tex so that these two respected companies could provide design advice to users early enough.

Over the years, although the company's primary specialty is footwear, Merrell's product line has expanded to include clothing and other accessories needed for the mountain trails.

Today, Merrell remains one of the leading brands recommended for affordable yet quality footwear and clothing for outdoor adventures.

Level of quality

Merrell Continuum Vibram

Quality shoes require quality materials and craftsmanship, and Merrell doesn't disappoint in either department. Like Salomon, Merrell also relies on sustainable manufacturing methods, which includes creating high-quality boots that last a long time, reducing its environmental impact.

The brand uses both synthetic and natural materials, including leather or polyester and nylon options, most of which are accompanied by mesh lining for breathability.

The most famous technology used by Merrell is M-Select Dry, a waterproof membrane technology similar to Gore-Tex that allows feet to breathe while protecting them from the elements.

For the outsole, Merrell uses Vibram, a solution from one of the best outsole manufacturers on the market, known for its Arctic Grip outsole and other similar outsoles designed to provide better traction for shoes on difficult terrain.

Lastly, the insoles used in Merrell shoes feature a Kinetic Fit design that provides excellent heel and arch support. For those looking for extra cushioning, select models also offer M-Select Fit.

Popular models

One of Merrell's most popular shoe models is the Moab 2 Vent, which is a best seller among those who prefer hiking.

These shoes are made of suede leather combined with mesh fabric that provides breathability. It features a protective rubber toe cap and a tongue designed to protect the inside of the shoe.

It's a comfortable design that provides plenty of cushioning and support thanks to the Vibram TC5+ midsole and sculpted footbed that also helps your foot stay in place, preventing blisters and discomfort while walking.

Merrell offers a large selection of models that are reasonably priced when you consider overall quality and performance.
