This model appeared relatively recently. Studs for boot manufacturers remained an obligatory and key element in the design of specialized football shoes until the second half of the last century. And only after the widespread popularization of mini-football - the 70-80s of the twentieth century - the world's largest brands began to offer customers non-studded boots.
What are boots without spikes called?
The second name for mini-football is futsal (an abbreviation of the phrase “indoor football”). Non-studded sports shoes, which have become popular due to this sport, are called futsal shoes (bumps).
Important! Nowadays they do not differentiate between futsals and bumps; these words have become complete synonyms.
However, bumps were originally non-studded boots for street football, and futsals were specialized shoes without spikes for mini-football.
What is unique about futsal shoes?
Such shoes should provide good grip on the floor and protect the heel from injury.
Often manufacturers produce products that are equipped with a sock. This element supports the leg and helps reduce the risk of ankle injury. In them, the foot works together with the ankle.
Other characteristic features of shoes.

- Model holds the heel tightly.
- The sole is made of well-cushioning and elastic materials: phylon, cast rubber.
- The sole profile is moderately thin and is designed in such a way that the sock fits as tightly as possible to the floor.
- Tread pattern is complex, due to which the foot does not slide on the smooth surface of the playing field.
There are 2 types of lacing for futsal shoes: asymmetrical and central classic. You should choose between them based on the method of striking, gaming activity and experience.
Important! For beginners, a pair with central classic lacing is more suitable. Asymmetrical will cost more, but can improve a professional’s level of ball control.
Lightweight version of futsal shoes
There is a special type of futsal shoe - lightweight. Sometimes they are called "Czechs". However, they don't actually look like dancers' shoes.
These are regular futsal shoes, but only with a very thin sole..
This feature eliminates normal shock absorption and increases the chances of injury, but the ball feels much better in them.
