It often happens that after buying new sneakers, when you come home and put them on for the first time, it turns out that they are too big. It seems that when trying on the shoes in the store, the shoes were the right size, but then it turned out that my feet felt like there was a lot of space. But what to do, how to reduce the size?..
There can be many reasons, since the legs tend to swell and shrink from the cold. Much also depends on what sock the sneakers were measured on for the first time. Here are several options on how to deal with this problem and get the right size.
Methods to reduce sneakers by 1 size
Using simple improvised means, you can reduce sneakers at home. This will make it possible to wear shoes comfortably and comfortably.
Hot water
We recommend wet the sole and edges inside the sneakers with warm (hot) water. And then dry at room temperature.
Attention! Do not dry near open flames, electrical appliances or batteries.
Cotton swab
Place a cotton swab in the areas of the socks so that your toes do not feel discomfort when wearing them.
Advice! It is advisable to stretch the cotton wool into fibers, and only then put it in shoes.
Sticky sticker
In the heel area, we place a soft pad. We press the insole tightly, this will make it possible to reduce the space inside. In modern shoe stores, ready-made adhesive pads are available for sale. We tear off the surface film and attach the sticker to the heel part.
Double insoles
Use double insoles, which you can make yourself. Take the foam rubber and stand on one leg, then trace it with a colored felt-tip pen. Next, we outline 2 cm more parallel to the first outline, then carefully cut it out. We insert it inside the sneaker and put the original insole on top. Reduced the size one time.
Important! Foam rubber needs to be washed 2 times a week, as it tends to absorb odors.
With freezer and battery
Pour hot water into the basin and put the shoes in for 5 minutes to get wet.. Then we pull it out and hang it in heat. As soon as the water has stopped dripping, wrap it in a tight bag and put it in the freezer for 3 hours. After the time has passed, we take it out and place it near the battery. With sudden changes in temperature, the shoes shrink and become smaller.
With steam and freezer
Keep the shoes over steam for 10 minutes, then put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. The size will decrease, but if you use this method often, the material may lose its properties and sewing structure. And the appearance will not change for the better.
Before using any home method, try to find out about the properties of the material from which the shoes are made, and only then practice effective methods.
If possible, immediately try to return these shoes and replace them with ones that fit the actual size. This way you can avoid problems in the future, for which you won’t have to tinker with new shoes and look for ways to reduce them, even if you like them. And then, most importantly, you will be able to avoid a ridiculous appearance from the outside.
