History of sneakers

Sneakers are the most popular type of footwear, famous for their functionality: they can be used both in everyday life and for sports. Production began at the beginning of the 20th century.

The first semblance of sneakers

The first sports shoes that were anything like sneakers gained popularity in the early 19th century with the proliferation of soles made of rubber. At that time, the development of these models was slow.

However, after 100 years, two significant changes occurred. First, D. Foster created the first sneakers with spikes, and then sneakers appeared, consisting of a rubber sole and a fabric upper.

The history of sneakers

The year 1917 in the American market was characterized by the release of “sneakers”. During the development, noise was taken into account, which is where the name comes from, because in translation “sneakers” means “sneak”. The man moved almost silently.

Dassler shoes

All the situations described before were not as significant as the actions of Dassler and his family. Germany lost the First World War, so a crisis arose. Everyone survived as best they could. The Dassler family also decided to open their own small business - sewing shoes. Thus, one of the largest manufacturers of sports shoes at the very beginning created slippers and other similar products for the disabled.

Reference! The first few dozen pairs produced by the Dasslers were made from military clothing and car tires, ideally serving as soles.

A few years later, the family purchased the factory. As a result, they were able to create at least 100 pairs of shoes per day. However, They gained the greatest popularity later - in 1928, representatives of the German national team performed in Dassler sneakers, although not as successfully. A few years later, an American athlete won a gold medal and set a number of new world records.

Division of the company into Adidas and Ruma

After management passed from Adi Dassler to his sons, the company's affairs began to deteriorate due to constant disagreements. Having returned from military captivity, the brothers decided to divide their 2 factories.

Then Adidas and Ruma appeared, and Dassler ended its existence. At the beginning the names were slightly different - Addas and Ruda. A few months later they were changed to the ones we are used to.

Nike waffle soles

Nike is the youngest shoe brand, but this has not affected its popularity at all, since many celebrities play in the shoes of this brand.

The company stands out from others thanks to one fact: Knight's success came only due to a good business model.

In 1975, a significant event occurred that allowed Nike to capture almost half of the American market.

Baurman (one of the founders) thought why not make the soles of the sneakers “waffle”, because because of such changes, the kicks become stronger and the jumps become farther.

Within one year, dozens of models were invented until the “ideal” pair of shoes was born.
