What are sneakers made of?

You can find a pair of sneakers in every person's wardrobe. They are used both for sports and in everyday life. They are practical, comfortable and aesthetically attractive.

The general concept of creating sneakers

What are sneakers made of?The purpose of sneakers is to provide comfort when simply walking or playing sports. They should reduce the load on the foot and soften impacts. For this reason, different materials are combined in the production of such shoes. Sneakers consist of an upper part, a sole (main and intermediate), lacing (different types of fasteners), and additional elements.

What is the top made of?

The upper provides protection for the foot and keeps it in place on the sole. For its production, both natural and artificial materials are used.

Materials for the upper of the sneakers:

  • sneaker uppergenuine leather is durable and elastic, retains its shape well and is breathable;
  • artificial leather has a light and durable structure, retains its shape under any operating conditions;
  • textiles are made of nylon and polyester, they are lightweight and breathable.

These are the main materials for making sneakers. Each manufacturer is constantly improving sewing technology. A large number of raw materials are presented that perform certain functions.

Midsole

soleThe midsole is one of the main components of a running shoe. It provides a stable foot position and softens stress and shock.. For this part of the shoe, phylon is often used - this is a foam consisting of EVA granules. Thanks to this, the lower part can take on any shape.

They also use polyurethane, which is durable and hard. Often a combination of phylon and rubber is used - filayt. It is used in combination with an outsole, which increases flexibility and makes the sneakers lighter.

Important! Polyurethane is increasingly being replaced by lighter materials, not only in the sole, but also in the upper.

The cheapest option is EVA. It is light in weight and has good elasticity, as it consists of foam. Gradually, the air is squeezed out of the granules, and the sole is no longer able to return to its previous shape.

Main sole materials

solePrimary midsole provides entry-level cushioning. The tread pattern determines the connection with different coatings. The sole also regulates the permissible load and the type of sport that can be done in such shoes.

Materials for the main sole:

  • BRS 1000 – a complex rubber-carbon complex, designed for running;
  • a combination of natural and artificial rubber - a universal material for any sports shoes;
  • DRC mixture - regular rubber with additives, used for tennis and walking;
  • Duralon is a type of artificial rubber that provides high shock absorption and is used for running.

Lace, Velcro, other fasteners

sneaker detailsLaces are made of synthetic fibers with a metal or plastic tip. Velcro is considered a textile fastener, having small hooks on one side and loops on the other. Less commonly used for fastening are metal and plastic clips with carabiners, as well as elastic bands with clamps.

Other details

Additional details include insoles and lace holes. The first element is usually removed, but can be glued to the backing. For its production, printed material is used. Holes for laces are metal and plastic.
