The history of footwear goes back several thousand years. According to some sources, primitive shoes were created from the skins of wild animals or reeds 26-30 thousand years ago in Western Eurasia. At that time, it was some semblance of modern army foot wraps, i.e. pieces of leather were wrapped around the caviar, and the sole was made from hay or leaves.
In the hot, desert climate of Ancient Egypt, people wore sandals made of papyrus or palm leaves, which were secured to the foot with leather belts. Wealthy segments of the population had the opportunity to decorate their shoes with stones and decorative patterns.
A real revolution in the world of shoes was made by the Greeks, who created wedge shoes laced to the middle of the calf. And the Greek heterae - independent beauties of free morals - created a female version in which the left and right sandals were sewn according to separate patterns. In addition, these ladies asked the shoemakers to nail their shoes in such a way that a mark would remain in the sand with the inscription “follow me!”
The creators of shoes that were closed at the front and back were also the Greeks in the 8th-2nd centuries. BC.Paleontologists were able to prove the existence of such ancient moccasins, decorated with patterns of silk and silver threads.
With the development of theatrical art, the first boots and sandals with platforms appeared. Koturnas first appeared in Greece, and then in Rome. Initially, these shoes were worn by theater artists. At that time, the stage was very high and was far from the viewer, so in order for people to see the actors more clearly, the latter had to wear shoes on a platform over 40 cm. They were stilts and were made of cork. Over time, buskins began to be made from genuine leather and decorated with jewelry. By 500 BC. they became a sign of wealth and were worn every day by representatives of the wealthy classes.
The 20th century brought shoe fashion to a whole new level. A variety of materials and improved fittings create not only practical, but also incredibly beautiful models. Pads, insoles and heels are being improved.
The variety of shoes is amazing. Each person has the opportunity to choose shoes that are ideal for him in terms of appearance, price and quality.
