How to stretch suede shoes?

I liked the shoes made of natural suede. Everything fits: style, color, and price. The only thing I'm not happy with is the size - they squeeze a little, well, just a little. Don't be upset - buy it. Suede has the ability to stretch and “sit” on the leg, because it is leather that has been subjected to special treatment. As a result, it became so pleasant to the touch and to look at, soft and slightly fleecy.

Unconventional ways to quickly break in suede shoes

Freezing will help stretch shoes at home. Let's remember our school knowledge of physics and let's do some laboratory work:

Step 1. Pour water into two tight sealed plastic bags to fill 1/3 of the volume.

Step 2. Put them in the shoes so that the water fills the entire internal space, and put the shoes in the freezer.

Step 3. Under the influence of low temperature, the water will crystallize, turn into ice and expand our shoes.

A great way if you are not bothered by the presence of shoes in the freezer.

Cowboys in the Old West stretched their boots using grits.Their method is also suitable for Russia. Rinse the grain (rice, buckwheat, pearl barley), drain the water, and pour the wet grain into the shoes to the top and leave overnight. It swells and expands the shoes it is in.

Some tips

We have also prepared life hacks that will help maintain the original appearance of your shoes.

  • Suede is very afraid of water and dampness. When exposed to moisture, it shrinks, that is, it decreases in size. It will be impossible to return it to its original state.
  • If suede shoes become very wet, do not dry them in close proximity to a heat source (radiator), hairdryer, or in the sun. To dry such shoes, natural temperature and air circulation are needed.
  • Fill wet shoes with newsprint, press firmly and leave to dry. This way the suede will not lose its elasticity.
  • To straighten the pile after drying, as well as to remove dust, treat your shoes with a soft shoe brush with natural or silicone bristles.
  • To refresh the color of shoes, our mothers and grandmothers used improvised means.

For example, light suede was sprinkled with talcum powder (baby powder), then gently brushed off with a brush. In a similar way, we used fine salt, soda, and hydrogen peroxide with caution (!). Brown shoes were polished with dried coffee grounds. The shiny areas were treated with a hard eraser.

Grease stains were carefully wiped with a sponge dipped in soapy water and a drop of ammonia.

If the effect of increasing suede shoes does not occur immediately, repeat your chosen procedure several times or use another method. Be patient, you will need it.

Still, shoes are not the cheapest purchase. Therefore, being attentive and even scrupulous in choosing and trying on is not a whim, but a completely justified necessity. Sometimes it's better to return a pair of shoes that don't fit you to the store, no matter how beautiful and desirable they may be. The entire effect of stunning shoes will be spoiled by your suffering face, distorted with pain.

Now there is such an abundance of different models, a wealth of choice that Don't waste your time, nerves and money for dubious manipulations. Remember, Cinderella had glass slippers. They did not stretch and only fit her.
