What are doll ugg boots made of?
Thermoregulation is not important for a doll, but appearance means a lot. The following materials are used:
- Natural sheepskin. As a rule, leftovers or scraps.
- Any natural skins. For toys, those parts of the skins that we discard when cutting fur products are suitable.
- Scraps of old boots, bags, wallets.
- Faux fur, suede.
- Fleece.
- Knitted fabric.
- Corduroy, velvet, plush.
- Cotton fabrics.
- Matting, burlap.
Reference! Ugg boots are comfortable shoes made of natural sheepskin. Originating from Australia, these boots are now distributed all over the world. Universal shoes for any season, as they have excellent thermoregulation. Sheepskin fur is located on the inside, and suede is on the outside.
For the sole it is used:
- Felt, including scraps from felt boots.
- Thick drape.
- Leather.
- Foamed rubber and cellulose kitchen napkins.
Taking measurements
For sewing you will need the following measurements:
- Foot length.
- Foot width.
- Leg volume. We measure around the leg at the boot.
- Boot height. We measure from the sole to the expected height of the boot.
Since all dolls are different sizes, the Ugg boots will be different, as a rule, the toe of the dolls is weakly defined, the instep is small.
Making a pattern
An ugg boots pattern consists of at least three parts:
- The top, the boot itself – 2 parts for a pair of boots.
- Sock – 2 parts.
- Sole – 2 parts.
The boot can be divided into parts, the pattern can be cut, it all depends on your imagination.
An option without taking measurements is possible. In this case we use foil.
I used a ready-made plastic doll boot as a template for clarity.
Required:
- foil;
- scissors;
- pencil;
- paper.
How to make a pattern using foil:
Wrap a small piece of foil around the leg. The seam will be at the back, which means we place the edges of the foil along the back seam.
Press the foil tightly around the leg or shoe.
Choose the height of the boot.
We cut off the excess along the back, as well as the sole.
Unroll along the back seam.
Remove the sole.
We smooth it out, the toe is still convex.
Cut out the sock.
Let's smooth it out.
Advice! If the sock is voluminous, and when smoothing it, it tears along the edge - no problem, these are darts for a better fit.
We trace the details onto paper.
Cut it out.
To give the UGG a classic look, cut the boot into pieces.
It is better to cut out the sole last, placing the finished UGG boots on paper and tracing them.
We sew ugg boots
It is better to sew boots on your hands, using a seam “over the edge”.
Progress:
- We place the pattern pieces on the fabric, chalk it, leaving a minimum allowance of 1-3 mm.
- Cut it out.
- We sew the details. With hand stitches, any decorative seam “over the edge”. If you sew on a sewing machine, then we do this work on the wrong side.
- We cut out the sole.
- Sew on the sole.
- We decorate as desired with embroidery, covered buttons, beads, fringe, pom-poms.
- Let's try it on.
These boots can be made with lining. In this case, we cut out the details of the sock and boot in double quantity.
If you sew UGG boots for a doll with pajamas made of light cotton fabric, you will get a cozy sleeping set.
