Anorak

Is there a light and comfortable jacket in the world that reliably protects from wind and rain, but is stylish at the same time? Of course, there are many of these, but the anorak is especially unusual among the whole variety of models. This clothing with a strange name came into the everyday life of ordinary people from sports quite a long time ago, but still remains at the peak of fashion.

Anorak is outerwear made of dense windproof material with a sports cut. This jacket does not have a zipper or other fasteners, so it is worn over the head. But in the center front it is decorated with a spacious pocket, and you can hide your head from the rain and prying eyes under the large hood.

Story

If today both men and women wear anorak, then once upon a time everything was different.

The Eskimo jacket is considered the ancestor of the modern anorak. At least, historians have established that these options have a lot in common. Already several centuries ago, anorak was made waterproof, using the skins of mammals and fish living in the northern seas for sewing. This jacket was used by Eskimo men for hunting, it was thick (which is why turning in it was something that required some skill) and did not smell very pleasant. However, these shortcomings went unnoticed, since such clothing saved them in severe frosts during long wanderings across forever frozen ground.

The progressive world learned about this unique outerwear at the beginning of the twentieth century. At the same time, it was given a name already known to us, based on a similar-sounding word from the Eskimo vocabulary.

Of course, the anorak did not immediately become popular. For a long time it remained the professional equipment of mountaineering athletes. A little later, tourists began to use it, and at the end of the century - all other outdoor enthusiasts.

Peculiarities

The main function of an anorak is protection from the wind, so any of us will find elastic bands and drawstrings on the sleeves, along the bottom and on the hood. The lack of buttons is also not accidental. This is not an element of style: thanks to such a closed cut, the protection of the body from the elements was enhanced. In addition, the kangaroo pocket made it possible to transfer individual valuable or heavy, but small-sized items from the backpack. To prevent anything from getting lost or flying out, the anorak used to be tied with a belt. Today, for reliability and convenience, it is replaced with buttons and zippers on both sides of the pocket.

It is important to understand that an anorak is a windbreaker. It is good only from April to October, and in some northern regions of our country it is worn even less. In the classic version, it is sewn from nylon, and no lining is provided to conserve heat.

women's anorak

A real anorak can be rolled up so that it can easily fit into a small backpack, lie there all day and not wrinkle at all.

The women's anorak differs from the men's only in colors. In general, they are similar both in cut and in purpose. This jacket is considered sporty today, but is suitable for everyday wear. It can and should be combined with straight jeans or sweatpants, simple boots or sneakers.
