Bodysuit is an ideal item for lovers of practical and comfortable clothing. It does not jump out of pants or skirts, is sewn from different fabrics and is suitable for all occasions. In addition, there are women's, children's and even men's models.
Everything is clear with the children's ones, we won't delve into the men's ones, but we still need to figure out the women's ones. How to choose what to wear with and what fabrics to choose when buying a women's bodysuit?
What is a bodysuit
This is a form-fitting wardrobe item, similar to a one-piece swimsuit. Unlike a swimsuit, it has fasteners in the groin area, long and short sleeves, and is sewn from other, usually natural, fabrics.
Can be used as casual wear, for work or for a walk with friends. There is also:
- sports and dance options, without fasteners;
- erotic underwear;
- shapewear underwear.
IMPORTANT! For each occasion and area of application, different bodysuits are sewn. They use different styles and fabrics. Erotic ones are often lace and transparent, which would not be entirely appropriate for work or gymnastics.
Where does the name come from?
In English, body sounds like “bodysuit”. In translation “body” means body, “suit” means to fit, to correspond.
The development of the bodysuit as casual wear began with the leotard sports outfit, named after the French gymnast Jules Leotard, who performed in shorts and a T-shirt connected to each other. It was the end of the 19th century and leotards were used only by gymnasts and acrobats, wearing shorts or a skirt on top.
Until the 80s of the 20th century, leotard was a comfortable sportswear consisting of connected shorts and a T-shirt. Until Donna Karan came up with the idea of sewing a fastener in the form of buttons at the bottom. This clothing was immediately loved by many and was called “bodysuit” - suitable for the body.
At that time, jumpsuits were widely used; they were made of elastic fabric without unnecessary decoration. They were used for sports, and during fitness classes that were broadcast on television, girls wore combi-dresses over leggings.
Later, designers all over the world began to modify and experiment with bodysuits, and all the types that are commercially available have reached us.
REFERENCE! Sports and dance options without fasteners, correctly called leotard.
Description, features
Due to the fact that the bodysuit is a tight-fitting item of clothing, it emphasizes all the advantages of the figure. But if there are flaws, a bodysuit will show them in a negative light. Therefore, girls with curvy figures should be careful with these clothes. If you like, you can buy a body shirt, it is looser. And if you don’t like shirts and want to wear tight ones, combine them in a layered look - with a jacket, jacket or vest made of thick fabric.
With underwear everything is clear, it can be an everyday, corrective option, or maybe underwear for a special occasion.But we counted at least 14 varieties of everyday bodysuits:
- with long sleeve;
- short-sleeve;
- sleeveless;
- strapless top;
- shirt;
- turtleneck;
- T-shirt;
- on one shoulder;
- with lacing on the chest;
- on buttons and buttons from the neck to the bottom or middle of the abdomen;
- wedding;
- openwork;
- pajamas;
- dress with a translucent skirt.
IMPORTANT! Lace-up back is used for underwear.
A casual bodysuit doesn't have to be boring. Designers use bright prints, rhinestones and sequins, lace and metal inserts. The usual style can be played up so that it is suitable for a social evening in combination with a skirt, and for business meetings, complemented with classic trousers.
IMPORTANT! You only need to buy a bodysuit of any kind in a regular store, or in an online store with the possibility of trying on. They cannot be selected according to clothing size; there is a risk of buying a tight or large bodysuit, due to the different cut of the panties and the elasticity of the fabric.
What fabrics does it come from?
The fabric of the product depends on its style and purpose:
- For erotic underwear or evening bodysuits, lace, mesh, micromesh, silk, satin, and guipure are used.
- Regular underwear is made of cotton; there may be inserts of elastic fabrics in a slimming version.
- Sports leotards are made of cotton with the addition of elastic material.
- Casual options can be cotton, knitted, guipure and even made from transparent micromesh for bold fashionistas.
Despite the disadvantages such as the inability to buy online and being unusual to wear at first, the bodysuit is a universal item. It will not allow you to expose your belly or gather in life-saving circles at the waist even during the most active dances. And it always looks advantageous, the main thing is to choose it to suit your figure and combine it correctly with other clothes.
