Bomber is a famous jacket in our time. It is short, but comfortable, as it does not restrict movement at all. The sporty cut of the bomber allows you to create a variety of casual looks that are suitable for walking, commuting or sports.
Other names for this outerwear are “pilot jacket”, bomber jacket, flight jacket. The world learned about it thanks to American pilots, whose uniform it was part of.
In 1955, by special order of the US Air Force command, a jacket was produced - the direct ancestor of the modern bomber. It was called MA-1, and was worn exclusively by pilots flying heavy bombers. The jacket was in demand among military personnel: it was comfortable to sit in for long hours of flight, it did not interfere with the hands to quickly react to changing conditions in the air and control the aircraft, and also warmed well.
A few years after its appearance, a group of initiators from the US aviation service proposed sewing an orange lining onto the jacket. This decision was not accidental: the time was turbulent, and pilots often had to eject from burning bombers. After landing, the pilot turned the jacket inside out and put it on with the orange side up. Thanks to this, rescue services quickly found the fighter.
In the second half of the twentieth century, the bomber jacket appeared in the wardrobe of students. For a long time this jacket was considered a youth jacket, but by the end of the century people of all ages began to wear it.
By the way! The name “bomber” is popular: this is how the military first began to call the jacket, and then all other Americans.
The bomber jacket has its own characteristics that distinguish it from other types of outerwear:
Bomber jackets are made today from different materials: most often they use nylon or leather (for the top) and cotton or polyester (for the lining).
In its classic version, a bomber jacket is more of a windbreaker than a warm jacket. However, today fashion designers offer us excellent options lined with down or synthetic insulation, in which it is impossible to freeze even in winter.
Bombers are available for men, women and children.
Thus, a jacket for men is universal; it can be combined with classic trousers and a shirt, jeans and a sweater, sweatpants and a T-shirt. The optimal models are classic colors: black, brown, gray, beige. In order for the image to be truly stylish, you need to carefully consider the accessories. The bomber jacket goes well with classic shoes and loafers, sneakers or sneakers, as well as a small bag thrown over the shoulder.
Women's models are more varied. This jacket can be worn with a straight-cut skirt or dress, trousers, jeans and even shorts (but not extremely short). It is believed that you can choose a beautiful bomber jacket to suit any female figure. However, girls with broad shoulders and narrow hips (an “apple” figure) should be especially careful about their choice. A bomber jacket increases the size of an already large upper part, so when creating looks with it, you should avoid additional accessories in the chest area.
The children's bomber jacket is wonderful. It’s convenient for kids to run and jump in such a twist, and it looks stylish. You can choose either a classic model that looks like an adult model, or a completely childish one with a bright print or unusual embroidery.
