Sculpting figures from plasticine is a fun activity for little know-it-alls. While in the creative process, they do not think about the fact that their clothes get dirty and then cannot be washed. But whoever thinks about this is the mothers of babies, because often plasticine remains not only on children’s clothes, but also on parents’ clothes - a child can, while playing, scatter plasticine balls on which they can sit unnoticed. The clothes will be ruined. Also, many first-graders are creative at school, and may return home having ruined their school uniform with plasticine.
Important! At home, designate a special place for your child to sculpt, so as not to have to clean the interior items in the future.
Methods for cleaning trousers from plasticine
There are several ways to remove plasticine from pants and other clothing. First, remove the plasticine from your pants. This can be done by placing your pants in the freezer. Under no circumstances remove the plasticine before freezing, this will only allow it to penetrate deeper into the fabric, and then the process of removing the stain will become more difficult. When the plasticine hardens, you can simply remove it with something sharp, such as a knife. It is better to use the back of the knife so as not to tear the item. After such manipulations, you can remove the stain using one of the proposed methods.
Ammonia
After removing the plasticine, a greasy stain will remain, onto which you need to drip a little ammonia or hydrogen peroxide and treat the area with cotton wool until the stain disappears. Rinse the item with cold water and wash as usual.
Hydrogen peroxide
Proceed in the same way as with ammonia, but peroxide can only be used on white fabrics.
Vegetable oil
Plasticine contains paraffin, and it is this that leaves greasy stains on trousers. Vegetable oil dissolves paraffin perfectly, but after treating with oil, go over the dirty area with dishwashing detergent, which in turn will wash off the oil.
Baking soda
Dilute baking soda and soap in hot water, soak the pants for half an hour and scrub with a laundry brush.
Remember! Treatment with soda is not suitable for synthetics, since the soap-soda solution for removing stains must be at least 60 degrees. This will simply ruin a thing made from synthetic fabric.
Laundry soap
This soap contains alkali, which will easily remove greasy stains. First, grate the soap and dissolve it in warm water, we get a good concentration of alkali. Soak the product for 30 minutes, after which you can once again treat the damaged area with soap and use a brush to remove dirt and grease. Then wash the item as usual.
Wool sock
You can use not only a sock, but also other items made of wool, such as a mitten. Place a sock or mitten on your hand and vigorously rub the stain. When rubbed, the item will heat up, and the wool will absorb the fat remaining from the plasticine.
Kerosene
Before using this method, test it on an inconspicuous part of your clothing. If the pants haven't changed color, you can safely use them! Soak cotton wool or a cotton pad in kerosene and wipe the stain several times. After 20 minutes, the product can be washed in cold water separately from other clothes. Wash with conditioner to avoid any unpleasant smell.
Stain removers
Such stain removers as Ace Oxi Magic, Amway Vanish and others are suitable. There are a huge variety of them on sale now. Of course, they are much more expensive than regular laundry soap, but the effect will be excellent. Read the instructions on the package and follow the instructions.
Important! Don't confuse stain remover with bleach! The latter may contain chlorine-containing substances, and your trousers will simply lose color. Then it will definitely be impossible to wear them.
If everything is done correctly, the item will serve you for a long time.
