Over the past year, pants have occupied a special place in women's wardrobes. First, the fashion for bell-bottoms, then for jeans, and then for suits - skirts are actively being pushed out of fashion. And recently, palazzo pants have become a trend. Today we will talk about how to wear them correctly this season.
What, where, when?
The thing got its name in Italy - the word “palazzo” in Italian means “palace”. And those used to have huge infrastructure, a wide base and narrow towers at the top. Accordingly, a palazzo is a long, loose trouser that flares from the waist. They are known for being much more spacious and comfortable than other models. And the pursuit of comfort is the goal of the modern fashion industry. This is the secret of their popularity.
What styles are trending?
Today there are many different types of these pants. They differ in materials, details, and leg width. However, I will only consider those that are considered fashionable this season.
Length
Floor-length trousers visually elongate your legs, making the look more relaxed and a little casual. Such models are most often combined with high-heeled shoes. The legs of the pants can even literally touch the floor. Although this is not the most practical choice - this way the thing will get dirty much faster.
The opposite short length - three quarters - is also gaining fans. It is inspired by the fashion of the 60s, because this style is reminiscent of the Bermuda shorts that were popular at that time. The image with them will be bold and interesting due to the separation of the silhouette. The disadvantage of this model is that it visually makes the legs shorter.
But the most common is still ankle length. This is the best option for both work and leisure. Even those who are far from the world of high fashion and do not like to experiment with style can try it - after all, this length has already become classic and universal.
Width and silhouette
This point is worth mentioning because width is quite important for something like this. For example, it can be big. So much so that the trousers will begin to resemble a maxi skirt and make the silhouette A-shaped. Which is good for comfort lovers who have rarely worn skirts before. Another option is a narrower one, when the silhouette remains straight. In this case, you can add voluminous things on top or, conversely, leave the bow without accents.
Material
This is where there is room for imagination! Indeed, palazzo pants can be made from completely different materials. Initially, for example, lightweight fabrics were used to allow the trouser legs to flutter while walking. Airiness and grace are perfect for a summer look.
In contrast, the choice may fall on “heavy” fabrics: corduroy and denim. The model from the first looks soft and cozy, especially if you choose pastel colors. In addition, fabric has rapidly returned to the fashion world, and finding such a solution in stores will not be difficult. A denim palazzo is ideal for everyday looks.
In addition to plain and monochrome versions, 2020 fashion welcomes the use of various prints. The most trendy pattern is small longitudinal stripes that balance the wide cut, stretching the silhouette.
A more striking solution would be a boho print, originating from hippie clothing. There are bright combinations of colors and beautiful compositions of lines, plant patterns and other geometry.
What to combine with
Palazzo pants add weight to the bottom, so balance the look on top. However, the main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the outfit will look bulky. These pants look amazing with plain white t-shirts. A plain top would also fit perfectly here. In addition, “alcoholic T-shirts” are coming back into fashion.
You can complement the look by adding voluminous accessories: earrings, chains, shoes with massive soles or a canvas shoulder bag. If business style is preferred, the best addition would be a classic plain button-down shirt.
