What can you buy second-hand without fear of embarrassment?

There is probably no one among us who has not visited this store at least once. The first association is a beehive. People here and there, all rummaging around, searching, standing in lines, arguing over something they liked.... And the impression is created - this is it, the place where I will buy everything my soul desires! It’s not for nothing that there are so many people here, it’s not just that everyone is “huddled together”!

Second-hand store is a specific place. And the main rule to remember before shopping:

Not all things from this store can be worn without fear of being ridiculed by society!

«Why is that? — you ask.You can probably buy anything here: from laces to a wedding veil. And people like it. Look how many there are and how eagerly they choose!»

You can find something, but you can’t wear it without anyone guessing that it’s second-hand. Let's figure out which things are worth buying and which are not.

Why does society look down on you?

The first stores with second-hand items appeared in the 90s. Then fashion-starved people were happy that they had the opportunity to “shop” for pennies. And in fact, for ridiculous money you could buy not only sweatpants, but also a coat! In those days, no one particularly bothered about the condition of these clothes. Made from good fabric – and that’s fine. Even the smell didn’t bother me; every third person on the trolleybus smelled of this specific, stale “aroma.”

Today the situation is completely different. If in “decent society” someone notices second-hand clothes, you will be despised. Wearing only new things is mandatory nowadays. It may be Chinese rubbish that will fall apart after the first wash, but it will be new. Is not it?

Many they are simply disdainful because they don’t know any other life. Those in their 20s and 30s today have no idea what “rummaging through used laundry” means. We are not considering completely marginal individuals now, you understand?

Meanwhile here you can buy a really high-quality item that will last for years. In our time of disposable clothing, what is it, disposable household appliances and cars - isn’t this an indicator?

Should I buy or not?

Of course yes. Just you need to choose wisely. With oh-oh-very big! First of all, remember a few important rules:

  1. The thing must be clean and whole. The spools can be cut off, but sprained elbows cannot be restored.
  2. Faded, crooked or peeling clothes and accessories are taboo. No dyes will turn them into new ones.
  3. Details (collar, sleeve cuffs, seams, hem) must be whole. This is especially true for the seams on the shoulders.Due to heat treatment, they are incredibly stretched, which is why the second is immediately visible.
  4. It is necessary to purchase with the expectation that the item will air outside the balcony for 2–4 weeks, not less. Until the specific odor completely disappears. By the way, it happens for six months, and even a year!
  5. Should buy winter clothes in summer and summer clothes in winter. This way you will not only save money, but also be able to find a really cool brand for ridiculous money.

What items should you not buy at a second-hand store?

Outerwear. A down jacket, a coat, a fur coat - all these representatives of “outfits for cold weather” are best left on a hanger. It is impossible to “knock” the second-hand spirit out of them, even if they are in excellent condition. And especially bright, but faded color.

Underwear. Let men's, women's, and children's socks and underpants remain with the “energy of the former owner,” if you know what I mean :-). Overly “intimate” clothing should belong to only one person.

Jacket, blazer, cardigan, raincoat, sweatshirt, hoodie. All these things, as a rule, will be the accent of any image you put together. It is necessary that outerwear is always brand new. It is almost impossible to steam or iron them to perfection.

Of course, these are just recommendations. If the thing is really cool, and you are sure that you will “bring” it to perfection, then why not buy it?

What can you wear and how?

Remember the rule! In the image you are allowed to use only one or two items from a second-hand store, and preferably it should be the bottom.

Besides:

  1. Never don't put on all your clothes at once from a specific store - you will be a complete fiasco. Firstly, true fashionistas will not wear several brands in a row.Secondly, it is impossible to hide the origin of each thing if there are many of them at once.
  2. Used clothes are preferable partially hide, therefore, it is recommended to wear a second one, say, under a jacket, coat, raincoat, jacket (of normal origin, of course).
  3. Everything needs to be ironed! And now you will have to do this every time after washing.
  4. In the hot season, you can wear trousers, trousers, skirts, combining them with a new top and shoes.
  5. Buy diving suits and other similar equipment in excellent condition right away without hesitation.
  6. It is better to wear a second-hand textile bag in summer, and only a leather one in winter.
  7. Second-hand jeans - exclusively with a new top, and any shoes are allowed.
  8. Supplement with used items only expensive ones. Against the backdrop of cheap shoes and a leatherette bag, a high-quality denim shirt from Wrangler will immediately catch your eye, and it will be clear that this is a second-hand item.
  9. The item must be the right size! Do not buy something that is small or large, as the “foreign shoulder” is immediately noticeable.

Never do not take unfashionable, irrelevant things. You can see them “a mile away.” Compared to the rest of the ensemble, such a detail will look simply funny. Especially if your friends know that you earn little and cannot afford a real brand.
