Fashion industry gurus are sure that at the turn of the century many interesting combinations and solutions were discovered that deserve a second chance. At the same time, many of these trends were considered unacceptable and bad manners just yesterday, but today the situation has turned 360 degrees.
Trends that were non grata yesterday but are in fashion today
Let’s look at the most interesting ones that “decided” to win the hearts of fashionistas for a long time.
Socks + shoes or sandals
A few years ago, we passionately protested against men's fashion promoting the use of open shoes with toes. But time has passed, and now the female half of the population actively wears shoes and sandals “for hosiery.”
Sports shoes + skirt or dress
For a long time, we believed that only a sports dress can be complemented with sneakers or trainers. But times and guidelines have changed, and now sports shoes can more often be seen in the same “boat” with light or fluffy feminine outfits. Something similar observed 20 years ago.
Birkenstock flip flops
Rough, rustic, and, moreover, with thick soles - how could such flip-flops have entered the wardrobe of a fashionista just a year ago? It’s unlikely, because they disappeared from there in the mid-90s. But in the coming summer season, these shoes, which in fact are a reworking of the fabrications of orthopedists, can be seen on the feet of the first beauties.

It is quite acceptable to return to trousers, which sat so low that they almost halved the legs and lengthened the torso.
Volumetric leg warmers
Greetings from the mid and late 2000s. It was then that voluminous shoes and incredibly thick leggings were in fashion. This design looks impressive only on slender legs and when contrasts play: put on massive shoes or leg warmers - take a closer look at a simple straight miniskirt.
Wide belt on hips
The accessory was worn this way in the mid-2000s. They wore it over long sweaters and dresses, woolen and knitted. Plain outfits from such a “neighborhood” began to look more interesting, and the lower tummy was hidden behind a wide buckle, but this did not save the girl from visual shortening of her legs.
The situation was even worse in the case of problematic figures.An emphasized upper tummy, elongated rectangular figures and tightened sides hanging from above - this is what the wide belt on the hips is memorable for. Today, oddly enough, the trend is back in fashion and incredibly relevant.
Round glasses
The Lennons or Tishades always had a rebellious accent to them. This is probably why they have become an attribute of certain subcultures over and over again. Today, glasses with completely round lenses surrounded by thin metal frames have become the property of hipsters. However, this does not mean that an ordinary girl cannot afford Lennons. Torn hem on the skirt
Patchwork hems that fall apart with movement were popular in the 2000s. Usually it could be seen complete with a miniskirt. The result was maximum openness, which in some places turned into modest attempts to cover the legs with separate elongated sections. The attempts were indeed modest, and all because these elongated flaps flew apart while walking and exposed the body even more than the short ones.
In general, the wardrobe item looked very erotic, but the effect of it was not enough for some girls. Therefore, they complemented a skirt with a torn hem with a very short or simply asymmetrical top. The result was the most open summer look.

Sports shoes with heels
“Shoes” on the platform are a hello from the 90s, with heels – a reference to the 2000s. It’s worth clarifying right away that in the nineties and two thousandths there were no skinny pants or similar-fitting pants on the market. But all the fashionistas were wearing narrow, clingy boots. If you add up these 2 facts, you will roughly understand how difficult it was for girls in those days. They had to tuck wide trouser legs into boots whose tops were not originally designed to accommodate additional centimeters. By fastening the zipper, they received discomfort on their feet and an image in which folds radiated upward from the shoes - a similar look to fishermen.
Surprisingly, along with tapered shoe toes and a move away from the tabernacle, fashion has returned to the trend in question. There is only one good thing: so far designers are not forcing you to wear boots with very narrow tops, and tucking into regular jeans is not so difficult.
Multicolored bow
Forget about the conservative rules of color combination of wardrobe items that we have followed in recent years. Today, as in the crazy 90s, a riot of colors and a certain tackiness rules the show. Boldly wear a colored bottom with a top of a different shade and complete the picture with shoes of a different rich color.
Important! The inconsistency and increased expressiveness also affected prints. The latter have become brighter and more shocking.
Jeans with back zip
The high waist and zipper at the back go well together.With the advent of the first trend, we should have expected the return of the second, and here it is: jeans with a fastener on the back side are again at the peak of popularity. At the same time, many foreign fashion publications greeted them almost with horror. The most decent epithet chosen for such trousers: dubious.
The trend did not see a warm welcome, and all because such a wardrobe item cannot be called modest, practical and comfortable. It provokes, is difficult to fasten, and the risk of pinching the buttocks does not add points to it. In addition, in reality it turns out that the zipper with this arrangement cannot withstand the pressure and wears out much earlier than expected. Its sudden breakdown in a public place, by the way, is fraught with much greater difficulties than the malfunction of a normally placed lock.
