During the washing process, items may fade (change their natural shade). Many people go to dry cleaning because they think they can restore faded items. But that's not true. It is best to do all the work at home, with your own hands.
How to revive a faded item?
There are some rules that will help restore faded clothes:
- Before you start washing, you need to read the label on your clothing. It indicates at what temperature it is allowed to wash it.
- It's better to sort things. Wash clothes of one color first and then another. Before putting new things in, check the drum to see if there are old ones left.
- Wash new clothes immediately after purchase. And to prevent shedding, they should be pre-soaked in solutions of soda or salt. They will allow you to fix the natural color of your clothes, making it bright.
- You should not buy cheap synthetic products. They are impregnated with unstable paint, which disappears after the first wash.
White
If white linen is faded, it should be soaked in water by adding washing powder. And for shirts or T-shirts, bleach is used. This is done as follows:
- Take a deep container.
- Pour water into it.
- Add a large amount of bleach.
- Soak the item for about 5 hours. More is possible.
- Rinse.
If the previous method did not work, there is another one:
- Mix 100 grams of salt, a tablespoon of laundry soap and a tablespoon of citric acid.
- Bring to a consistency similar to sour cream.
- Place the resulting mass on the wrong side of the garment.
- We are waiting for several hours.
- We wash the item in the machine.
Colored
Colored items are soaked in warm water with the addition of special stain removers for colored items. You need to wait a few hours. Another option is to add stain remover to your washing machine. Then soaking is not necessary.
If this method does not work, try using ammonia. We do the following:
- Dissolve 100 ml of ammonia in 5 liters of water.
- Loading the product.
- We wait 60 minutes.
- We wash the thing.
If there are faded stains on colored clothing, do the following:
- Mix starch, citric acid and laundry soap (1 spoon each). Add 0.5 tablespoons of salt.
- The mixture must be mixed until it resembles sour cream.
- Using a sponge, rub the mixture onto your clothes.
- Leave for 12 hours.
- Wash using powder.
Another way is to use baking soda. You need to do the following:
- Take a small amount of baking soda and add as much water as necessary to create a mushy mixture.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Apply to stains.
- Leave for 15 minutes.
- We wash clothes.
You can also boil things down. But this method is only suitable for natural fabrics. If the base is synthetic, there is a risk that the natural color will disappear. Also remember that you can only boil things of the same color at the same time.
If your jeans are faded, you can use laundry soap. We do the following:
- Rub the stains with soap.
- We wait 30 minutes.
- We wash jeans.
If you cannot restore the natural color of your jeans, you can use special paint. It allows you to make the tone both lighter and darker. If you can’t find a special paint, bluing comes as a replacement.
Black
Restoration methods are similar to those used for color. Clothes contain dye that disappears when bleach is used. But solutions based on salt or soda can return the natural black tint.
Another question is that if the clothes are black and white on one side, you can return the white tint with bleach. On the other hand, it will harm black. There are two methods you can use here:
- Use the solution for colored clothing. Then rinse thoroughly. Read carefully which colors the purchased solution is suitable for.
- Use a mixture of citric acid, laundry soap, salt and starch. Rub the light areas. After using this solution, you need to rinse your clothes in cold water.
Often these two methods are combined. The first is ideal for restoring black fabrics, and the second for light ones. You can use them one after the other.
