Many things are not enough just to be put on a shelf. A significant part of the materials requires special handling, which people often forget. Or they don’t know at all from the beginning. So today I'm going to talk about eight things that many people store incorrectly.
Underwear
Most often, panties and bras are kept in the same lingerie drawer. In this case, the first ones lie in a heap, and the second ones are folded in half - cup into cup. And this is completely wrong. In this situation, both types of things suffer.
Bras, for example, can become deformed when folded. And in general, for those who love perfect order in everything, special linen organizers were invented. It is especially convenient to take them with you on the road, so as not to “break” the cups in a tightly packed suitcase.
In addition, there are drawer lattices with identical small-sized cells for storing panties and socks. And in order to fit laundry in them, you need to roll it into a neat roller.
Trousers
Pants folded in piles inevitably overlap two transverse folds. And if this is not fatal for denim, then items made of wool, for example, should only be stored in a hanging position. Moreover, it is best to use a clothespin hanger for this. And put her pants upside down.
Sweaters
But for them, hangers are contraindicated in principle. During such storage, as well as during drying, heavy elastic fabric is stretched, the bottom and neck are deformed. However, this can be avoided. You just need to store the sweaters folded and, of course, clean. After all, moths actively hunt for things that have already been worn. If storage space is limited, it is convenient to use vacuum bags. In them, things are compressed and calmly decrease in volume several times.
Leather
But in her case, a vacuum is strictly contraindicated. This material must “breathe”. In addition, when compressed, folds and creases form, which may not be smoothed out after long-term storage. The thing will simply be ruined.
For leather clothes, you need to choose a hanger with sloping, wide shoulders. A jacket or raincoat should be kept fully buttoned. And during the period of active wear, it is better not to leave such things on the “eyelets”. This also causes creases and extra folds to appear.
Fur
Such natural products are among the most difficult to store. After all, ideally they need a special “refrigerator” with a certain temperature and humidity. But it’s unlikely that anyone will equip such a room for one or two fur coats. However, it is better to at least try to choose a separate cabinet compartment for them.
Shoes
Many people love neatness so much that they leave beautiful shopping boxes and continue to store shoes in them during the off-season. Unfortunately, this is a grave mistake. Firstly, the materials inside do not “breathe”.In the confined space of the box, if the house is too humid, the shoes may even become moldy. Secondly, the shoes “track” one side, which sometimes leads to deformation.
It would be ideal to have a separate closet with rows of shelves. But if you don’t have many shoes yet, you can simply allocate a separate corner in the hallway for them. The main thing is that everything stands on the sole. It won't hurt to stuff something soft into your noses. For example, wrapping paper or newspapers. But it’s better not to push cotton wool inside.
Boots
The boot is often forgotten and folds in half. And nothing can remove the creases. Do not throw away the special insert (cardboard or foam) that was in the shoe when you purchased it. It will also be useful during storage. Perhaps there is no point in saying that boots need to be washed, dried and rubbed with shoe polish of the appropriate color before being sent to rest.
Bags
Often accessories that are not currently in use continue to hang on the hanger. Or they are thrown onto a distant shelf. Hanging items pull out the strap with their own weight, while standing items are flattened and wrinkled. To avoid this, the bag should be filled with something soft and voluminous. Just like boots. For example, film “with pimples”. And don’t forget about hygiene: caramel left in your pocket will not make you happy when you take out the accessory next season.
