All representatives of the fair sex are familiar firsthand with the problem of torn tights. They always act exactly according to known laws; holes appear on them when you least expect it, and especially when they are least needed. And this does not always depend on how much the tights cost and what quality they are. After all, the reasons may lie not only in the quality of tights and socks.
Typically, rupture occurs in places where friction is highest. And this is the place where the big toe comes into contact with the shoe. This is most noticeable if the size of the tights is smaller than the one who wears them needs. High-heeled shoes also increase friction. Thanks to the enlarged heel, the main emphasis is on the forefoot, and not on its entire surface. The structural features of the toes are also ways to increase friction.
If holes quickly form on your fingers
- To prevent tights from tearing on your big toes, first of all, take care of your pedicure, and do not forget to polish your nails.Take care of the skin on your legs, your feet should be smooth and well-groomed. And, of course, buy your size of tights.
- If the toe of your shoes is closed and you don’t plan to take your shoes off, you can use a little trick to prevent holes from appearing on your big toes. Place a small piece of adhesive tape on your fingers. This will reduce friction.
- Wear underwear on tights. And the friction will be on them, and not on the tights themselves.
- To avoid wasting money, you can buy stockings. If you take several completely identical pairs at once, you can change them one by one if they break through.
- After purchasing, new clothes can be frozen. This gives them elasticity and slightly increases their lifespan. Just don't put them on as soon as you take them out of the refrigerator.
- Choose elastic and resilient product materials.
How to avoid this?
- Should be worn from the sock. First, we assemble the tights in the form of an accordion and slowly pull them on, first carefully on the feet and above, until we put them on the entire length. There is no place for haste in this matter. If you try to instantly get into tight-fitting tights, then, as a result, you will instantly get holes in them. And it’s better to dress while sitting, but not standing.
- To avoid tears, do not touch with your nails, use only the back of your hand.
- If the new thing is slightly small, then moisten your palms with water and then pull it up from the bottom to the top. Everything will be great!
- Be sure to monitor the condition of your skin and nails. Especially on the heels. There should be no dryness or cracks. Remove any hangnails on your hands. This is the main enemy of nylon. Manicures and pedicures should be regular, not occasionally. Lubricate dry heels with cream before putting on clothes. Don't skimp on your nails when wearing tights.Cut them short. The longer the nails, the faster the tights will tear.
- Do not touch the surface of the material with sharp objects; if possible, avoid crowding in transport. In transport they can easily be torn inadvertently, simply by accidentally touching them.
- If you are planning an important meeting, do not be lazy to take a spare pair. In a critical situation, simple nail polish can help. It will not close the hole, but it will prevent the appearance of an arrow.
Tights and socks from which materials will definitely not tear?
As a rule, two materials are used in the production of tights. This is polyamide elastane. The first makes the product light and durable, and the second makes it elastic.
In its usual form, the material of tights is woven in the form of loops that are threaded into each other. It is enough to break one loop and the whole sequence dissolves. As a result, an “arrow” is formed.
The type of weaving can be changed. Use exactly the same polyamide, but with a different weave that will strengthen the loops. As a result, if the thread breaks, the track will not form.
But in any case, under mechanical stress the thread will break and a hole will appear. But it will not entail the dissolution of the entire row.
Manufacturers are working on creating tights of increased strength. We used polyurethane threads and used thermal sealing technology. However, such models cannot yet be found on store shelves.
And the point here is not that the producers conspired. It’s just that the technology is becoming more complex and expensive, and the raw materials required are more expensive. Therefore, at this stage, such production is not economically profitable.
But it’s impossible to say for sure that such tights will become “indestructible.”Whatever material is used in production, its maximum load will in any case be less than that mechanical impact on it is possible.
