Children's matinees, which are held in honor of the New Year or the Autumn holiday in kindergartens and schools, are exciting for both children and parents. Kids taking part in holiday productions need to thoroughly learn the roles and recite poems without hesitation, for which they will definitely receive a sweet gift from Santa Claus or the good Wizard who visited the holiday. Parents of little actors also do not have to be bored; the most important task falls on them - preparing the costume.

The teachers and teacher-organizers try to devote each matinee to a specific topic and, based on it, assign roles to the children. For example, the heroes of the New Year holidays are often squirrels, bunnies and snowflakes. At the Autumn Festival, parents admire their children playing the role of fruits and vegetables.However, as already mentioned, everything depends on the ideas of the teachers, and even among the autumn characters there are squirrels and bunnies, just as onions or garlic can participate in a matinee on the occasion of the New Year celebration.

A boy who gets the role of garlic in a New Year's or autumn party, at first glance, is quite difficult to dress correctly. If done well and of high quality, the costume can become the best at the holiday, but both adults and children may think that it is more suitable for girls.

Since the costume consists of several elements, let’s look at how to make each one step by step:
- Cap. A white summer Panama hat with a soft visor can serve as the basis for a hat. For beauty, the visor of a Panama hat is trimmed with green satin ribbon or thread. You can make garlic heads that decorate your cap from nylon balls stuffed with padding polyester, which are divided into slices using a needle and thread. Buckwheat grains glued to the location of the roots will give the heads more realism. The arrows are made from ribbons sewn in the form of long and thin tubes, which, like the heads, need to be stuffed with padding polyester. The finished garlic is sewn onto the cap in the area of the crown so that it is clearly visible.
Advice! In order not to make the children's headdress heavier, it is recommended to sew on no more than 3-4 garlic heads.
- Shirt. There is no need to sew the shirt yourself. Every boy has a white shirt, turtleneck or T-shirt, the main condition is that it is plain, without any patterns, pockets or stripes.
