A little more, and a wave of children's matinees, carnivals, Christmas trees, and home costume parties will sweep across the country.
Not every child wants to be a clown, bunny or Indian. Superheroes and supervillains are not encouraged in all educational organizations.
Let's try to create a fresh, unconventional image of “Rain” with our own hands.
Options for “Rain” costumes
Any matinee begins with questions: “Who are you?” So that your child is not questioned, let’s decide on the “markers” of the costume.
Mandatory attributes of the “Rain” costume, allowing you to accurately identify the costume: rubber boots or galoshes on your feet, an open umbrella in your hands. Various headdresses - stylized hats - clouds, hats decorated with Christmas tree rain, capes with a hood.
The color scheme of the costume is cold blue, white and light blue, and if thunderclouds are needed, we add gray tones.
We offer the following Dozhdik models:
- Cape with hood, worn over a specially tailored suit or suitable clothing for the child.
- Jumpsuit or ready-made set complemented by rubber boots, an umbrella decorated with ribbons.
- Cloud hat with running droplets complements the standard suit.
- For the little ones, make a “cloud” vest.
By choosing just one element or combining several, we get a fun, easy-to-make costume.
Choosing ready-made clothes
Boys do not like unnecessary fuss around themselves, so they will try on “designer” new clothes without pleasure.
Based on this, Let's inspect the cabinet:
- We decorate wide trousers or, conversely, narrow models of a suitable “rainy” color with droplets cut from felt, cloth, velvet, or a suitable plastic bag.
- We decorate a turtleneck or pullover in a similar way.
- We sew braid with translucent rain and tinsel along the collar, cuffs, and yoke of the shirt.
- We trim the shorts with fringe, ribbons, rain, preferably long ones.
We sew overalls “Rain”
If your little son has nothing against trying on a new suit, then let's Let's make him a jumpsuit.
The pattern is given for size 28 (child height 110), suitable for a 4-5 year old boy. The pattern can be easily increased or decreased by a couple of sizes.
Using this pattern, you can sew several more types of carnival costumes, for example, a clown.
Required:
- Fabric, better elastic - 2.30 m with a width of 100 cm, 1.5 m with a width of 150 cm.
- Finished bias binding.
- Button.
- Beads, sequins, transparent beads - droplets.
- New Year's rain.
- Threads to match.
- Tailor's chalk, scissors.
“Rain” pattern:
- The front half of the trousers – 2 parts.
- The back half of the trousers – 2 parts.
- Sleeve – 2 parts.
- Shelf – 2 parts.
- Back – 2 parts.
Advice! This jumpsuit can be made from disused items. The fabric must first be washed and ironed.
Progress:
Advice! The sleeves and legs of this model can be left loose or fitted with elastic or cuffs.
- Lay out the pattern pieces on pre-treated fabric, chalk, marking seam allowances.
- Sew the back along the middle seam, leaving 4-5 cm for the fastener.
- Sew the front in the center.
- Sew the side seams.
- Iron all seams.
- Sew the dart, then the side seam of the sleeve.
- We process the bottom of the sleeve. We tuck them in, insert an elastic band if desired, or leave them loose. We use knitted fabric as a cuff.
- We finish the neckline with bias tape.
- We make a hanging loop from the binding.
- Sew a button onto the neckline along the back.
- Sew the side seams of the trousers.
- Sew the inseams of the trousers.
- Sew the middle seam of the trousers.
- Sew the trousers to the bodice.
- We decorate with bunches of translucent Christmas tree rain and sequins. Transparent beads - raindrops - look good.
- Let's try it on.
Decorating an umbrella
An umbrella is the main sign of rain. You don’t have to sew a suit, just take a decorated umbrella and that will be enough.
Required:
- An umbrella, preferably blue.
- Christmas tree rain, preferably translucent or blue.
- Glue gun or thread and needle.
Progress
We sew or glue tufts of rain along the edge of the umbrella.
Advice! You can get by with regular blue trash bags. We cut them into thin strips and decorate the umbrella with them. It will look even more interesting than the rain.
Making a cloud hat
The “rainy” hat is suitable for both boys and girls, will perfectly complement the image of rain.
Required:
- An old hat with a brim.
- Cotton wool, holofiber or padding polyester in gray or white.
- Christmas tree rain.
- Blue felt.
- Sequins.
- Threads.
- Glue.
Progress:
- If the color of the cloud does not suit us, we can paint the holofiber or padding polyester in light blue or gray.
- To an old, necessarily unnecessary, hat we glue cotton wool, or the material that you chose to make the hat.
Advice! It is desirable that the headdress loses its original shape and really begins to resemble a cloud. You can paste in several layers.
We cut out identical droplets from blue felt.
- We measure out thick threads of the required length (from the brim of the hat to the child’s belt). It would be nice if all the threads were of different lengths.
- Glue the drops together in pairs and lay a thread between the pieces.
- Glue the threads to the edge of the hat brim, masking it well with cotton wool.
- Let's try it on.
Advice! We crochet a chain from thick threads and glue droplets onto it. This design is stronger than just threads.
A hat decorated with several shades of chiffon or tulle, assembled with various coattails and folds, will look interesting.
