A kolobok suit is an outfit suitable for a huge number of events. This could be either a school masquerade ball or a New Year's party in kindergarten, or a performance based on a fairy tale in which your child got the main role. The multitude of different uses for this suit causes a fairly high demand for it. But is it worth spending money on a finished product if you can make it yourself?
To make a kolobok costume you don’t need any special skills and abilities; even a novice craftswoman can handle it. What will you need for work and where is the best place to start?
What can you make a kolobok costume from?
In the process you will need to use your imagination. This will also help you save a lot: ready-made costume options may include elements that you don’t have at home and will have to be purchased separately. And knowing what exactly is stored in your apartment and can be used in your work, you can discover previously unnoticed creativity and a penchant for creative perception.
Here are a few ideas: the image of a kolobok can be created using paraphernalia, using ready-made clothes that you already have as a basis. Another option would be to sew a simple jumpsuit from pieces of fabric or a vest from a lightweight fabric, such as fleece.
A hat with a funny face would be a great addition. The main thing in this suit is the yellow color, on the basis of which the whole image is built.
DIY kolobok costume for a boy
Dresses for boys sometimes raise questions among mothers - it is not enough to simply decorate the dress with ruffles or rhinestones and add a couple of accessories. A baby's kolobok costume must completely match the image so that everyone who sees it immediately understands who the boy is portraying.
How to make it atmospheric and comfortable without spending a lot of time?
What is needed for work
Let's turn to the simplest option, which does not require a large amount of starting materials. You will need:
- a piece of any lightweight fabric, for example, lining twill;
- cardboard;
- paints;
- glue.
The costume will consist of a plain yellow base and a headdress in the form of a cap, onto which we will glue a drawing of a kolobok on cardboard. You can print it or draw it yourself.
Making the base
The fabric will need to be folded in half and the required amount measured, depending on the child’s height. You can sew a hat from the leftovers.
The suit should be cut on the bias, and special ties should be made at the back. For the base of the costume, we make a circle out of cardboard, cover it with yellow fabric, and glue on a nose, eyes and mouth. The base is ready!
IMPORTANT! You can attach Velcro to the sides of the product so as not to make a mistake with the size. In addition, this will be an additional guarantee that the suit will not fall if the strings suddenly come undone.Remember that a holiday or performance always involves active activity of the child.
Making a headdress
Sew a small hat from the remaining pieces of fabric: to do this, you need to cut a wide ribbon to the size of the head circumference and a circle. Sew the pieces together.
Now all that remains is to prepare the picture. Cut out a small circle of thick cardboard that will not deteriorate from constant movement, and draw a face, painting the rest with yellow.
If the picture is pre-printed, you just need to color it and glue it to the hat. The kolobok costume is ready!
DIY kolobok costume for an adult step by step
For an adult, a more complex costume may be needed. To make it you need:
- padding polyester with quilted lining;
- polyethylene tape;
- pencil;
- thread and needle;
- yellow fleece.
The basis of this outfit will be the vest. Before starting work, you should measure your parameters: waist circumference and length of the future product from neck to hips. Both measurements need to be doubled. Then you need to cut two parts from padding polyester and sew them together, leaving exits for the arms and head.
IMPORTANT! Since the vest is supposed to be voluminous, undercuts are needed. If your sewing skills are not enough, it is better to seek help from experienced craftsmen or friends.
Then try on the resulting product and mark the lines along which the plastic tape will be sewn. Then cut out the top of the suit, insert elastic bands where necessary.
Place a yellow T-shirt or sweater under the resulting vest. Make a headdress from any cotton fabric, which can also be decorated with a kolobok pattern. For those who know how to crochet, it will not be difficult to make yourself a round skullcap.
Now you know how to sew a kolobok costume for a child or an adult yourself and what you will need for this.
