I want your child to look smart at the New Year's party. But on the other hand, there is no desire to spend a large sum on a carnival costume that the child will never need again, because by next year the baby will grow up and will no longer fit into it.
In this case, you have only one choice - to make a snowman costume with your own hands. Excuses that you don’t know how to sew are not accepted, since many of the proposed options do not require a needle and thread at all. Choose any!
Snowman costume without sewing
If you don't have sewing skills, you can make a suit without seams. It is best to take white padding polyester, as its structure resembles fluffy snow. Cut out a rectangle the length of the child's height. Cut a hole in the middle for the head. The resulting cape will have to be tied with a ribbon, also cut from padding polyester.
Glue three large black circles on the front - these will be buttons. You will also need to make a hat and a carrot-shaped nose out of cardboard.
Suit made from a sheet
Starch the white sheet well. When dry, fold it in half and cut out the neck. Make the bottom semicircular. Connect the side seams using a stapler. Glue black paper buttons on top. If the baby in this outfit does not look like a snowman, wrap him with a piece of foam rubber and tie the suit with two elastic bands - at the waist and under the butt, imitating snowballs.
You can tie a scarf around your neck and a carrot made of orange cardboard on your nose. A white bucket, selected according to size, will fit on your head. Pull the bow out of it, and thread an elastic band into the holes so that the child does not lose the holiday attribute.
Dress suit
For a girl you can make a snowman costume from a white dress. Instead of buttons, sew white pompoms, and trim the dress itself with snowflakes made of paper or foil. Complete the composition with a white knitted hat and mittens. Shoes are also white, for example, Czech shoes.
Robe suit
Take an old medical gown. Sew an elastic band at the bottom to tighten it. Tie your waist with a belt. Decorate in front of buttons or circles made of black cardboard. If you want more volume, hem the padding polyester from the inside. If you want to give your snowman even more volume, you can wear a white jacket and skirt under the robe, tucking the hem.
Choose a suitable hat for your head. And if you don’t want to make a nose out of a carrot, just smear the child’s nose with orange paint in the shape of a triangle.
Pajama suit
If a child has white pajamas with snowflakes in his arsenal, then you can’t think of a better suit. All that remains is to sew pompoms onto the jacket, and trim the edges of the sleeves and the bottom of the pants with padding polyester trim.The costume is ready! Choose a scarf for it, and make a headdress from a white cap, sewing two large black buttons on top of it - eyes, an orange button, preferably triangular in shape - a nose and a row of red buttons in a semicircle - this will be a mouth.
Sundress suit
Try a white sundress on your daughter. If it is too wide at the shoulders, hem it, otherwise the straps will slide down and the child will feel uncomfortable. You can gird yourself with a thread of silver rain. If you want it to look more like a lump of snow, place cotton wool or padding poly on the top. Cut the lower part of the sundress to the level of the knees, and trim the bottom from the inside with wire in the form of a ring.
Gauze suit
Dress the child in a white sweater or dress, and put a large piece of gauze on top, folded in two layers with a slit for the head. You can sew on a loose hood by tying it with an elastic band so that it doesn’t slide down over your eyes. Emphasize your waist with a belt. Stretch a wire in the middle of the bottom ball to give the suit a three-dimensional shape, and sew an elastic band at the bottom. You can complement the look with white mittens and a bright scarf.
Suit made of padding polyester
To make such a snowman you will have to tinker a little, but the result will exceed all your expectations. Cut out 12 segments from foam rubber (similar to orange slices) and glue them together with “Moment”. When the structure is dry, make holes in the lower ball at the top and bottom for the legs and torso, and in the upper, smaller in diameter, you also need to provide holes for the arms. Sew both balls together and cover them with padding polyester.
Cover the bucket with foil over your head, make a carrot-shaped nose out of foam rubber, paint it and sew an elastic band to it.
Fleece suit
Take a piece of fleece and lay it on the table. Place your son's overalls on top and outline the contours, trying to make the product a little wider so that it is loose. Leave seam allowances of 3-4 cm around the contours. Sew the jumpsuit along the seams, tighten the elastic bands at the bottom of the legs, along the waist and along the edges of the sleeves. All that remains is to decorate the product with large buttons.
Suit made of threads
Blow up two large round balloons - one larger and one smaller. Spread them with PVA glue and cover them with white knitting threads in two layers and glue them together, placing one on top of the other. When the thread balls are dry, pierce the balloons with a needle and make holes for the arms, legs and head.
