DIY New Year's costumes for adults

For adults, the current outfits for the New Year are the robes of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden. The female version of the Santa Claus costume is also quite popular. Another frequently used character is the well-known Baba Yaga, the main villain of Russian fairy tales. Let's take a closer look at how to build these variations.

Ded Moroz and Snegurochka

These are the main heroes of this celebration. They come to the children and give them gifts in exchange for the poems they tell.

This outfit includes several items:

• Short fur coat. Red for Father Frost and blue for the Snow Maiden;
• A hat of the appropriate color;
• The man has a white beard and the girl has a long braid;
• And also a staff and a bag with gifts from the grandfather and a muff from the granddaughter.

To create a costume, take a terry robe of the required color and follow these steps:

• Trim the robe around the open edge. You can use faux fur, white material with a pattern of snowflakes and tinsel;
• For the hat, first cut off the hood of the robe and cut out the desired element from it. Trim the edge with the same trim as the robe;
• For a beard, take a triangular piece of gauze and secure pieces of cotton wool on it to imitate lush growth. For fastening, sew on an elastic band;
• The staff can be made from scrap materials. For example, wrap shiny paper around a mop handle.

Baba Yaga

Snowflake

The main quality of this outfit is airiness and association with flying snow, so to implement it, choose a white or pale blue color of the garment and light flowing fabrics for sewing.

You can get this outfit in two ways: by choosing a fluffy dress of the required color and trimming it along the bottom hem and sleeves with tinsel, or by sewing it yourself.

To make it yourself, you will need to sew a fluffy skirt from tulle or organza using the following method:

• Connect a piece of wide elastic (according to the waist) into a ring and put it on the legs of an inverted stool;
• Cut the prepared material into strips equal to two lengths of the hem;
• Secure the strips folded in half with an elastic band;
• Decorate the belt with tinsel.

For the top, use a white top with sewn tinsel.

Fairy

This outfit became most popular after the release of the animated series “Winx”.

To create a suit, sew a brightly colored tulle skirt as shown in the example.

To create the formidable appearance of a conqueror of the sea elements, you will need black and red fabric, a vest and attributes that can be bought or made from cardboard.

Making the outfit:

• Sew trousers from black fabric according to the pattern, with the lower part done in a zigzag or trimmed with fringe;

• Process the edges of a rectangular piece of red fabric. This will be a pirate belt that is tied around the waist;
• The sleeves of the vest should be artistically trimmed;
• Buy a saber at a toy store. If desired, it can be cut out of cardboard according to a template and covered with foil;
