Even if you don’t have experience as a cutter, you can still try your hand by using your daughter’s T-shirt as a pattern.

Materials and tools

Before you get started, buy everything green:

  • a piece of satin;
  • tulle;
  • bias tape;
  • thin tape.

In addition, to process the frills you will need fishing line and zipper, so that the dress is easy to take off and put on. Also prepare decorations for the future Christmas tree - toys, tinsel, sequins, beads, rain.

Having prepared all the necessary materials, you can begin to work. Take your daughter’s T-shirt, lay it out on a newspaper and trace along the contours. Please note that we are sewing a dress, so the pattern will have to be lengthened depending on the girl’s height.

Making a pattern

After cutting out the pattern from a newspaper, lay it out on the fabric, trace it with chalk or a piece of dry soap, and make seam allowances: side seams - 2 cm, bottom - 4 cm. Do not allow allowance on the neckline or sleeves. Cut out the front of the dress.

We make the back according to the same pattern, only we need to make the neck higher and cut out two parts with a seam in the middle, because we will sew a zipper at the back. Don't forget to allow seam allowances!

Connecting the parts

Place the two halves of the back facing each other and baste until the zipper is sewn in. Baste the side and shoulder seams. Stitch. Sew a zipper at the back and hem the bottom of the dress. Finish the neckline and armhole with bias tape.

Now we will turn an ordinary green dress into a Christmas tree. Cut the tulle into strips 20 cm wide. Draw the dress into three parts at the front and back. Sew three tulle frills. To make the dress fuller, sew a zigzag line to the bottom of each frill. And so that it is not visible, cover the bottom of the frill with a thin tape.

Decorate the Christmas tree dress to your liking.

Herringbone skirt

If working on the costume described above seems like an impossible mission to you or there is very little time left before the matinee, you can do it easier. Buy 3 m of green tulle and cut it into four pieces of 55 cm. Cut each of these strips into transverse strips of 15 cm.

Measure the wide elastic band to fit your child's waist. Bring the edges together and stitch. Pull the resulting circle onto the bucket and begin tying pieces of tulle close to each other to the elastic band. When all the elastic is filled with fabric, the tutu skirt is ready. Start decorating it.You can make bows from red ribbon or any other decorations, just like on a real Christmas tree.

With such a skirt, a white T-shirt will look good, on which you can put the outline of a Christmas tree made of green rain on the front. Apply rain to the neckline and sleeve edges.

The skirt can be see-through, so it is advisable to line it with thick fabric or wear a green skirt underneath.

Cardboard Christmas tree costume

You can prepare a cape costume even faster. From cardboard, cut out two Christmas tree blanks, each with three tiers. Measure the height of the structure from the child’s neck to the bottom of the knee. Cover both blanks with green colored paper and decorate with appliqués and rain. Connect the two structures with rectangles so that you get shoulder straps that will hold both Christmas trees in front and back.

Put the girl on a green suit or dress, and a cardboard structure on top. The New Year's costume is ready.

Headdress

To complement the masquerade look, you should make a headdress for the Christmas tree. You can attach a Christmas tree, a star, or make a New Year's composition to a regular hair hoop. You can sew a cap, make a veil from leftover green tulle, or make a crown.

Find a kokoshnik pattern and style it like a Christmas tree. Transfer the pattern onto thick cardboard. Apply PVA glue and cover with green paper on both sides.

Once the crown is dry, start decorating it. Cover the edges with braid and decorate the inside with beads, sequins, and artificial stones.

To keep the crown on your head, you need to glue an elastic band to it, previously trimmed with green tape.

With a little effort from mom, her daughter will shine at the New Year's party in kindergarten or school.
