New Year is a holiday that people of all ages look forward to. The older generation associates it with the smell of fresh pine needles and tangerines, with a richly set table and night festivities. For children, it is unthinkable without a theatrical performance and, of course, gifts from Santa Claus. One of the oldest traditions - coming to the New Year's party in a carnival costume - has been preserved to this day.
Popular children's New Year's outfits in the USSR
They were quite modest, the same as the desires of children and the capabilities of most parents.
At a matinee in kindergarten
The most common girly image is a snowflake because:
- in a white decorated dress, usually no higher than the knees, and a beautiful headdress, the little ones felt like beauties;
- materials - white chintz, gauze, tinsel and wire - all this could be found on store shelves;
- sewing a suit was not difficult and did not take much time.
The most popular among boys, for the same reasons, was the hare costume.
By the way! The hits of the New Year's party in any scenario were the snowflake waltz and the bunny dance.
As a rule, the luckiest girl was the one with the best memory, attractive appearance and brown hair. She usually got, along with a costume, the role of the Snow Maiden.
Characters from Russian folk tales were also in “demand”: the bear, the wolf, the fox. The main identifying marks were the mask and tail. The rest of the clothes, if there was no suitable material, were simply selected according to the color of the character.
The costume of Parsley or a clown was also popular. For it, two fabrics of contrasting color were chosen, and the cap was most often made of cardboard.
At the school Christmas tree
As the children grew older, their reading circle became enriched and their interests were added. New heroes appeared that I wanted to imitate.
1961 turned people's consciousness upside down with human space flight, and scientific journals first started talking about artificial intelligence. In the early 70s, the science fiction films “Youths in the Universe” and “Moscow-Cassiopeia” were shot. Children all dreamed of traveling to unknown worlds in order to find brothers in mind. Therefore, in addition to the usual characters, astronauts and robots began to appear at the New Year tree.
In the 80s, every Soviet family, with rare exceptions, had a television. Fairy tales, animated films and adventure feature films were not shown often. That is why the whole family gathered around the screens during their screening. In New Year's round dances one could see Aibolit, Pinocchio, a musketeer, as well as other popular characters.
Carnival costumes of the post-Soviet period
In the 90s, after perestroika, which was remembered for empty shelves, a flow of Western products poured into the country. Industrial goods also included textiles.Sometimes not of very good quality, but bright, they became the basis of New Year's outfits for the new generation of renewed Russia. Firms for sewing carnival costumes have appeared, focusing on consumer demand. Familiar characters “sparkled” with new colors.
The expansion of the range of children's New Year's wardrobes was facilitated by the rapid development of television. Over the past 20 years, broadcasting channels, including children's, have increased many times over. Today they show films and cartoons, animated and feature series based on American comics around the clock.
Disney characters did not leave young, especially girl audiences indifferent. Bright outfits, for example, Princess Jasmine from “Aladdin”, Snow White and Belle from the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast” are always in trend.
Superheroes such as Zorro, Batman and Spider-Man have become the idols of many children.
Interesting! Only boys, but also girls want to save the world from evil. Therefore, suits are specially made for them, not only elegant, but also in brighter colors.
Particular attention is paid to the image of the animal, which will become a symbol of the coming year according to the eastern horoscope.
Know-how of post-Soviet Russia - celebrating Halloween. At such parties, images of witches, vampires and other representatives of “evil spirits” are popular.
For spectacular photo shoots, parents even dress up babies, who can only appreciate what is happening several years later.
Years go by, one generation replaces another, but there are things that remain unchanged. On New Year's Day, children dream of transforming into their favorite character, at least for a couple of hours. Today, retail and especially online stores offer a huge selection of carnival costumes. The price is quite affordable even for a family with an average income.That is why most parents try to fulfill the dreams of their offspring to make their holiday unforgettable. They are rewarded with admiring glances, cheerful laughter and tight hugs.
An idiotic comparison, especially considering the prices of suits and salaries
