Gorka costume pattern

Gorka costume patternNow a mountain suit is used as a mandatory element of equipment for some military personnel. Due to its quality and protective properties, this item of clothing is loved by many hunters and fishermen.

This is no coincidence, because the model was originally developed for combat operations, better camouflage conditions, wind and water protection in mountainous areas.

Features of the suit

Taking these parameters into account, the slide was made of dense fabrics with lining elements made of membranes and tarpaulin. The trousers and jacket were also equipped with special elastic bands, which allow them to maintain their shape even in strong winds.

Since its creation, the suit has undergone several stages of modernization. At the moment there are up to 5 main models. Unfortunately, the patterns of modern versions are not made publicly available, so we will use early models for sewing ourselves.

How to make a gorka costume pattern

pattern
Since we will use the first option as a basis, the pattern will be built in its likeness.

The easiest way to prepare a pattern is to cut out an old unwanted kit.

If possible, buy it from someone else. Old used models will not cost much. In this case, you just have to trace all the details along the contours and transfer the drawing to paper. If you need to modify parts of the future product, make all the necessary amendments to the sketch in advance. Take into account all the features of sewing fabrics.

Important! When modifying, it is important not to affect the main places of the seams and not to add details to the folds: elbows, knees, belt.

This can cause inconvenience when sewing and make the suit less practical and comfortable.

If you were unable to find a sample, you will have to make the pattern yourself.

Jacket

First, let's make a jacket. It consists of a back part, two shelves, sleeves and a hood.

You can use the pattern we offer and adjust it to your size.
Or make a drawing based on finished clothes. This construction consists of the following actions.

  • Trace along the outline of any T-shirt the silhouette for the back of the jacket. Take 2-3 cm of fabric for hems and seams.
  • Draw symmetrical shelves. This is the same back part, only divided in half, with the addition of a collar.
  • Cut out the sleeves of the unnecessary jacket and trace them around the perimeter on paper.
  • For the hood you will need two parts, when sewn together they will form a semicircle. The length of the circumference should correspond to the length of the collar on the main part of the suit.

Important! When constructing a pattern, you should allow for all elements a margin of 2–3 cm for the seam and 1.5 cm for the girth so that the suit fits comfortably.

Trousers

No special drawings are required to build the pants. Just use any other trouser patterns as a basis. Measure the width of the step, the girth of the thigh and shin, the length of the trouser leg and start drawing the drawing on paper.

Check the resulting version against the pattern.

Important! The difference between the gorka suit is the location of the pockets on the sleeves, the front of the jacket, on the sides, on the front of the belt and on the hips.

And also in all elements there are special elastic bands that tighten the clothes. All these details must be displayed in the pattern.

Tips for sewing a Gorka suit

adviсe
In order for you to be able to sew a high-quality suit that meets all requirements correctly and in a short time, we will give you some useful tips and share some tricks.
Particular attention should be paid to the following points.

  • Choose the right fabric depending on the time of year and climatic conditions of the area in which the suit will be used. For the winter period, denser cotton material with the use of insulation is suitable.
  • In summer, it is best to use the same cotton fabric, but made with a special thread of a special weave. Due to the high degree of twist, the thread provides the necessary ventilation, and when wet it swells and prevents moisture from getting inside.
  • Make all seams with strong threads on the sewing machine at a slow speed so as not to damage the fabric.
  • Be sure to press the seams to prevent the fabric from unraveling.
  • In places where the suit narrows, you should use elastic bands folded in half.Since the material has a high density and heavy weight, one layer is not enough to stretch the fabrics and the elastic will simply come apart.

The ideal gorka suit is perfect for dealing with bad weather while hiking. Make it according to all the requirements and you will get an excellent thing, not inferior in quality to models from the store.
