Grease stains on a jacket are a common household problem that almost everyone has encountered. There are various sources: machine oil, vegetable oil splashed during cooking, fallen fatty food. To remove stains, you don’t have to take the item to the dry cleaner - you can do it yourself. In this article we will figure out how to remove fat from a jacket at home.
Contamination can be recent/fresh or already dry and embedded. Cleaning methods are different for them, so keep this in mind when 
processing.
REFERENCE: old, already dried stains have a matte structure, fresh ones have a shiny structure.
Basic methods for removing stains
If the mark is fresh, has just appeared and has not had time to dry, it will be easier to eliminate it. The main thing is not to try to thoroughly wipe it off. This will only make the situation worse. To begin, take a small cloth or napkin and gently blot the contaminated area. The fabric will absorb excess fat and moisture.
Then use one of these tools:
- Corn starch.Place the product and carefully sprinkle starch onto the stain. The substance will absorb fat and draw it out: for this it will take about 30 minutes. Then carefully wipe away any remaining starch.
- A mixture of starch and Castile soap. Mix the ingredients, proportion – 1:2, treat the required areas with the resulting mixture, wait an hour. After the procedure, treat the surface with liquid soap, then wash the item in the washing machine;
- Talc. Sprinkle the substance onto the required areas and place the product horizontally overnight. In the morning, remove any leftovers. Talc effectively removes stains on any type of fabric or leather;
- Citrus oil. Take a cotton pad, pour a little oil on it, and apply it to the stain. IMPORTANT Quickly remove the disc and place a paper towel on the product. Iron the jacket through a towel until completely dry;
- Mustard powder. Dilute the substance with water, treat the desired areas with the mixture and wait 35-40 minutes. Then remove any remaining residue.
REFERENCE This method is not suitable for light-colored products - new stains will appear. Use only for dark colors.
- Laundry or tar soap. Treat with soap and leave for 2 hours. Wash the product as usual.
- Lemon or onion. Cut the ingredient in half, wipe the stain with the resulting cut, and leave for 15-20 minutes. Wash as usual;
- Hair fixation spray. Treat with this product, let it dry (10-15 minutes), wash.
If the traces are already dry, gasoline salt or glycerin will help.
Petrol
Apply the substance, wait 5 minutes: it will penetrate into the fabric to dissolve the fat. After the procedure, wash the product using a washing machine.
REFERENCE. A method with a strong persistent odor. It will take a lot of time to get rid of it.
Salt
The procedure takes place in several stages and takes a lot of time. Sprinkle dirty areas with table salt. Leave until the grease saturates the fabric, wipe off the salt and apply new salt. Repeat all steps until the stain disappears. Wash as usual.
Glycerol
Apply the substance to a cotton pad and treat the contaminated surface. Leave until completely incorporated (40-45 minutes). Remove any residue with a dry cloth and wash the jacket.
Use of mixtures
1. Starch + gasoline: prepare a mixture in a ratio of 1:4. Apply the resulting mixture onto the grease mark, leave until dry, wipe, wash the product. REFERENCE: For leather products and traces of vegetable oil.
2. Washing powder + vinegar. Pre-treat the stain with powder diluted in warm water. Take a cotton pad or cloth, soak it generously in vinegar and wipe the desired area. Then remove the residue with a soapy napkin.
Stains on a bologna jacket
It is difficult, but possible, to remove stains from such fabric. It is important to do this immediately after the stain appears, to prevent it from drying out.
Potato
Pre-clean the item from excess dust using a damp cloth. Take a medium-sized vegetable, wash it and cut it in half. Treat grease marks with a potato cut. Wait until dry and wash the jacket.
Antipyatin remedy
One of the cheapest stain removers, made from lemon juice. Excellent for bolognese fabric. Wipe off the dirt with a damp cloth, then treat with soap. Leave for 15 minutes, then wash as usual.
Toothpaste or powder
The bleaching agents in the composition effectively remove residual fat from the fabric. REFERENCE: This method is suitable for dark materials, not for light ones.
Carefully treat the marks with paste or diluted powder, use a clean cloth or toothbrush. Leave the product on for a while and remove excess with a damp cloth. Wash the product in a washing machine or by hand.
Chalk
To carry out the procedure, grind a piece of chalk into powder, sprinkle it on contaminated areas and remove after 10-15 minutes. The substance will absorb fat. It is necessary to repeat the action several times until the stain disappears.
