It would seem that what could be unusual in a long-sleeve T-shirt that is familiar to everyone? At least the name. This English word hurts the ears of a Russian-speaking person, but its translation is quite simple: “long” - “long”, and “sleeve” - “sleeve”.
Meanwhile, logsliving is popular all over the world. Depending on the situation, it is worn as outerwear or as underwear. It, like a T-shirt, is sewn from thin elastic material (usually knitwear) and worn over the head.
Once upon a time, the long sleeve was called a cute and simple sweatshirt, and it was considered a mandatory piece of men's underwear, just like any other T-shirt. In the 19th century, it was first worn by sailors and ground forces personnel, complete with long johns - thin pants, which were also considered underwear. However, at that time little was known about synthetics, and therefore such clothes were made mainly from completely inelastic cotton. It is difficult to imagine a long sleeve from the 19th century without any fasteners, since it would be impossible to put it on in this case. Most often, buttons or small hooks were sewn onto the neckline.
All T-shirts were sewn in this form until the beginning of the twentieth century. In the 1930s, Sears pioneered the mass production of long sleeves. At the same time, these T-shirts began to be sewn from materials containing nylon and without fasteners. Since then, the long sleeve has become truly folk clothing. It, like any other T-shirt, is worn by everyone: both adults and children.
A long sleeve is considered high quality if its seams are impeccable and the fabric is pleasant to the body. A fitted silhouette can be called classic, but oversized models are also common today. The permissible sleeve length is up to the base of the wrist or ¾.
A long sleeve is often confused with a sweatshirt. However, these are two completely different wardrobe items. The sweatshirt is made from warm, dense fabric; it can be shortened or very wide and looks more like a jacket. The longsleeve is thinner, it emphasizes rather than hides the curves of the body. It has a standard length to mid-thigh, but you can’t call it warm.
A long-sleeved T-shirt is considered a wardrobe staple, no matter in what situations it is used. Therefore, you can combine a long sleeve with anything:
A jacket or jacket is selected as a top; a cardigan and denim are possible. The main thing in creating ensembles with long sleeves is a sense of proportion. For example, you should not combine a bright T-shirt with equally colorful items of clothing, otherwise the image will be overloaded. Modest shades, on the contrary, are recommended to be diluted with colorful accents. A bright long sleeve in this case will be the ideal solution.
The main criterion by which all models of such T-shirts can be divided is who they are intended for. Long sleeves can be for men, women or children.
So, when performed by men, it is often more strict. This T-shirt looks good with a sweater, shirt or jacket. Bright men's models with unusual inscriptions and prints also have a place. Psychologists note that creative, internally free people feel most comfortable in them.
Women's long sleeves are more democratic. Here the emphasis is on the waistline, chest and hips (of course, if the model is chosen correctly). A children's long-sleeve T-shirt is a real lifesaver for many mothers. It is convenient, as it does not hinder the child’s movements at all, is easy to wash and is relatively inexpensive.
