Socks peeking out from under shoes or boots no longer seem strange or ridiculous. Wear this duo with a pleated skirt, mini shorts, a short boho or A-line dress, or a pencil skirt. Cropped trousers and jeans also look wonderful with them. Lurex socks look especially interesting in this ensemble.
What kind of socks are these?
Lurex is a shiny thread, very durable, usually elastic and resistant to oxidation (no need to be afraid of washing, the item will not deteriorate). Traditional shades: silver and steel. They appeared before everyone else, back in Ancient Greece. In addition to them, there are other colors.
Important! For the modern prototype of Lurex and its name we must thank T.E. Dolan, American entrepreneur.
Lurex socks are knitted, cotton, wool or synthetic hosiery, the base of which is woven with a shiny tonal or contrasting thread.Low quality products will be a little prickly. Because Before purchasing, do not forget to put the item on your hand and focus on the sensations. If you feel an unpleasant sensation, choose another model.
Also check the label. It should indicate the percentage of Lurex. A thing that consists of 3–30% shiny threads is considered good.. Increasing the norm leads to causticity; in rare cases, wearing it even causes irritation (if the norm is very significantly exceeded). If there is very little lurex (less than 3%), then it will simply be “lost” in the main fibers and will be invisible.
Who can, who can’t?
Socks in combination with shoes, sandals and boots are an eye-catching accessory in themselves. Lurex ones are an even stronger accent. Therefore, you definitely shouldn’t resort to them if you have problems with your legs in the area below the knee. They will expose protruding veins to everyone, emphasize wide or pumped calves (and even visually enlarge them), and once again indicate club feet and similar defects.
Important! If you want to hide protruding veins, wear knee socks rather than socks. And even better - leggings.
Which color should I choose?
A win-win option – black and white. The first ones can be with lurex of a traditional steel tint or with some unusual one, for example, blue. Wear this pair under green, blue, light blue, black or brown shoes.
Important! Black and silver socks look great with deep red shoes.
Combine white ones with wine, mustard, gold and nude shoes. Wear red-brown and burgundy with brown shoes with thick heels (let them be a darker shade than the socks) and nude pumps.
By itself, dark yellow lurex looks good.This golden hue will become a bright accent and harmonious addition to an outfit made up of velvety green, blue or red items.
Gray socks with silver lurex are another win-win option. Find a pair that has a lot of glitter, but in moderation (it shouldn't resemble part of an astronaut suit), and make it a basic item. It is aesthetic, versatile and offers many variations and ensembles.
How do lurex socks go with boots?
The easiest way to combine socks with low boots like monks. On the other hand, the simplicity of putting things together into a harmonious union does not mean anything. Some stylists claim that these shoes with socks look vulgar. Actually, like loafers.
To understand how controversial this statement is, just try wearing a classic pair of monks with short white socks with lurex or with long, lowered black socks (let them bunch up at the ankle).
We finish with ambiguous decisions and move on to guaranteed correct ones. An ensemble made from a complex range of shoes and silver-black or silver-white hosiery will definitely “pop”. What is a sophisticated shoe in this context? This includes:
- varnished, the shimmer of which does not coincide in color with the main shade (let this shimmer match or contrast with the socks);
- animal print pairs (try dark yellow lurex knee socks with leopard print boots);
- intricately decorated.
Lurex knee socks will be a great addition to rough high lace-up boots. If you are going to wear them together, make sure that the toes do not stick out too much. 2 fingers will be enough.
How to wear with shoes?
Mary Jane shoes look very nice with socks. Moreover, it is not recommended to destroy this union. It is canonical - the designers initially intended this combination. Build a color scheme based on 1 of the following options:
- socks are matched to match the shoes (try a combination of richly decorated black pumps with sequins or rhinestones with black socks);
- socks contrast with shoes (let the latter have cat heels);
- socks are in harmony with the color of the shoes (for example, deep blue - dark gray);
- colorful socks are combined with classic-colored shoes (try raspberry socks with lurex and black shoes);
- socks of the same color with tights (knee socks will be a transition from patent leather shoes or shoes with a buckle to plain, non-shiny tights).
You can take a different path and take socks 1-2 shades lighter than the shoes. Examples of such a solution: for silver hosiery, white shoes are suitable, for steel - gray, for beige - brown.
