Back in late summer, designers unveiled a slew of new styles that shone on the fall-winter 2022 runways, including several styles you may already have in your closet. It's a new take on fitted silhouettes, sporty streetwear and fluffy textures.
Dramatic tailoring
Tailoring is always a fashion week staple, but this season it's taken to a more dramatic level with larger silhouettes and exaggerated frames. Take Jil Sander's double-breasted jacket and skirt, with its tapered frame and strong shoulders reminiscent of the '80s, or Louis Vuitton's XXXL blazer, which gives new meaning to the term "oversized."
Bold Furs
Fur coat lovers have something to rejoice at - brands like Gucci and Michael Kors offer both voluminous and colorful styles. This trend is designed to be a statement piece, whether it's a classic brown or a hot pink.
Fluffy accessories
As the fur coat trend evolves, furry accessories have become one of the most common trends this season. Bottega Veneta's orange fuzzy heels are already going viral, and Versace's green fur bucket hat is sure to make an appearance on your Instagram.
Skin from head to toe
Almost every designer put their emphasis on the head-to-toe leather trend: sets, leather suits, leather coats and even leather dresses were presented in abundance. Expect to see leather layered on leather, like on the Coach and Peter Do runways.
Bomber jackets
Making a welcome comeback, bomber jackets have made a splash with a puffer jacket from Loewe, a classic nylon style from Raf Simons, and a sweater-turned-bomber jacket from Miu Miu, all offering different yet comfortable ways to incorporate this comfy trend into your wardrobe.
Sports elements
Several brands have incorporated sporty elements into their ready-to-wear collections, most notably in Gucci's surprise collaboration with Adidas. Many Gucci looks featured Adidas' recognizable three-stripe branding, while other collections from Christian Dior and Off-White featured soccer gear.
The return of mohair
Mohair sweaters were a major trend last season, and they seem to be here to stay in particularly unique ways. Fendi, known for its furs, adorned top model Bella Hadid in a delicate mohair coat, while Prada used mohair motifs in various looks from its collection.
Colorful bags
Fashionable fur or classic leather, bright ombre and airbrushing were presented on bags all over the catwalks. From Off-White tie-dye bags to patchwork Chanel purses, this season's bag choices won't be boring.
